An update on our kitchen bar...
We decided against the subway tiles and painted it the same color as the living room/kitchen. We'll see how the paint holds up to scuff marks, etc.
We still have to install a piece of moulding right underneath the granite to cover the uglyness of where the wall meets the granite, but I like how it looks painted.
We're also thinking of doing maybe two or three decorative corbel pieces underneath also... like this (in white):

I like it painted - hopefully the scuff marks won't get too bad.

Thank you, I never really thought about it! I LOVE decorating (for my own home and other people) but do you think there is really a need for interior decorators these days? I feel like most people wouldn't want to spend the money and do most things DIY.
Thanks for the compliment!

Thanks! The stools are from a wholesale furniture place down here in FL, but i've seen similar ones on Target.com (LINK) recently.
The color is BM Nantucket Gray, which is a bit greener than Pismo.

Re: An update on our kitchen bar...
Like everything else you do, it looks terrific! I think you made the right choice not going with the tiles. You should be able to wipe down any scuff marks (did you use semi-gloss or eggshell?) And I love the idea of the corbel pieces.

Thanks! We actually used the same flat paint we did for the other rooms. We could always get a small can of the semi-gloss and do another coat over it if we need to. So far we haven't really sat over there or had company so we'll see how it holds up.

You'll probably be fine with the flat. And you're right about adding semi-gloss later if you have to.
