DS has such a rough three days and although he's fine in spirits, I have such a horrible feeling in my stomach.

Started this weekend, he had a fever and then blisters started to appear. So took him to the doctor on Monday and they confirmed what I thought - hand foot and mouth (ie similar to coxsakie). We're told we'll be contagious for about 10 days. So yesterday we're at home and I sit DS at the table to draw and play with playdoh in his high chair. He's fine there for a bit, but then wants to come out. Take him out and sit him on a kitchen chair for a minute, turn my back and he falls on the floor. Worst part is he had a plastic knife in his hand because we were cutting playdoh (yes, I know not a smart move on my part) so he's got a little scrape from the serated edge on his face and a big red mark from his brow to his cheek. But he seemed find, so I didn't think much of it.

This morning we're playing bed for a little and then I realize his ear is covered in dried blood and there's a little on his sheet. Go back to the doctor, and luckily there's no inner ear damage. Bleeding could be from the fall or an unrelated incident that I don't know about (ie him sticking something in his ear). Anyway, they say he's fine, just to monitor behavior in case he's got a concussion.

So on the way home, the rain was clearing and I thought, this kid could do with some fresh air, so we went for a walk in the park. I had DS out and walking next to the stroller. A guy with two dogs, one on a leash and one not, comes around the corner. I grabbed onto DS's hood and crouched down to pick him up as the dog approached, but I wasn't quick enough The dog jumped to lick my face and DS was stuck underneath him. He was a little shaken up and cried a bit, but he seems okay. He looks like he has a very light scratch (no broken skin, just a mark) on his face, but I'm not sure it's from the dog.

THEN, we finally get to the playground and he trips, falls and does a face plant

So now on his face he's got blisters, several scratches - from the plastic knife, the dog and two old ones that he did to himself - a bruise on his cheek and an upper and lower fat lip. Seriously this kid looks like he's been through the war and I can't help but get teary every time I look at him. He's acting just fine, but I think we're both exhausted.

How do we cope with this for another 17 years!?!?

my ds fell off the changign table this mornign and i was standing right there- i just looked away for a sec

Awww, poor baby!!!!

Don't beat yourself up, just sounds like he was unlucky to have accidents that all happened within the last few days.

Just give him extra kisses, hugs, (and maybe an ice pop or two) and he'll be better in no time.

Awww - poor baby! And Mommy!
They recover from these things much quicker then we do! Try not to beat yourself up about it! Accidents happen.

I sometimes wish I could put a bubble around DS so he'd never get hurt.

Farah you are a GREAT mom - don't beat yourself up!

The other day, DS hit his head HARD on the corner of two separate tables within a few hours of each other. My mom said that if they weren't there to witness it she would have had to call CPS These kids are indestructible!!

Poor little guy and poor mommy
I know how you feel...just last week I was on here posting that DS fell off his changing table. Like everyone else has said, accidents do happen and that doesn't make you a bad mommy! DS won't remember a thing about his accidents, but of course, us mommies will never forget it!

How irresponsible of that dog owner to not have the dog on a leash though

Oh stop it!!!! You are not the worst mommy and these things can happen to any of our kiddies.

Go easy on yourself! It is hard to say and I know I will have to be reminded of this once DD is mobile, but these things happen! I think you need a nice cocktail and a break-hopefully Tristan feels better very soon!
