Another back to work spinoff
I just returned back to the office in person and noticed that no one was wearing masks for the most part. There are only 5 of us in the office - some days it’s only 4. I’m wondering what other small offices are doing in terms of requiring masks .

I'm surprised. I'm still home so I dont know what they would ask of us, though my office is mostly medical professionals I guess they would have us wear a mask

If you do not live in the same household as someone, you should be wearing a mask at all times - especially while indoors.
I’m a teacher and it’s recommended we wear it at all times - even if we are in our room by ourselves due to a high potential viral load after having 15 students in a room for 80 minutes at a time. I only take off my mask to eat and even then I’ve been trying to eat outside.

If we have a separate office, we can take off our masks if we’re alone. Otherwise, masks at all times - walking to the bathroom, working in an open environment, etc.

The only office open at my company is headquarters in another state. There you can remove your mask while seated at your desk, similar to a restaurant situation.
ETA- back in March we met up with a vendor for lunch and afterwards they invited us back to see their office as they were already back in the office. It was a very small company. The owner and like 5 employees were there at the time. None of them had masks. But again, tiny company and apparently they had all been hanging out together throughout and had even gone to the Bahamas together on a trip the owner treated them to a few weeks earlier. So I guess in their case it was kind of like being at work with your own family or something...

We can remove our masks while seated at our desks, which are very spread apart. We have to wear them when we leave our area (walking in the halls, bathrooms, etc...). I’ve noticed that I wear my mask a bit more than other co-workers. We had a small meeting the other day (5 of us), all spread apart in a room. Myself and one other co-worker kept our masks on the whole time, everyone else took them off. I keep mine on at my desk more than others too.

Like most others said, we have to wear masks when we're walking around and/or with with other people. When we're at our desks, we can take off the masks. They also put plastic dividers on all the cubicles, so there's some separation between people. And, they're the high cubicle walls, not the low ones. It seems OK to me.

There are about 25 of us, masks at all times unless you have your own office which only 5 people do. But STILL after 6 months adults I work with won't do it or wear it wrong. I confront and/or complain on a semi weekly basis.

Re: Another back to work spinoff
I work in a very small office. There is usually just myself and one of my bosses here at the same time. We don't wear masks and sit about 12' away from each other.

I would hope everyone were wearing masks at all time. I would kindly ask them the first time or two, and if the problem weren’t addressed, I would report them to the state department of health.

Re: Another back to work spinoff
i work in a space that i share with up to 3 other people. we wear our masks if speaking to one another and/or get up from our desks. we take them off when sitting at our desks and tapping away at keyboards.
we all sit with a mask hanging off one ear for when anyone stands up.
ps. they are in offices, i'm in the space outside of their offices, but off to a side (kind of inside of a "nook")

If you have your own office and are staying in there, you can take it off. If you are in the cubicle area you can take it off so long as you are seated. Everyone has to wear them in common areas.

OMG I know. I said that to them. I told my boss that he was in danger of losing me that very day. The owner paid for the women to get massages down there too. Oh and when we went back to their office- they have a BAR. A bar with wine, beer taps, tequila etc. He said he lets them have a drink after 12 noon if they are having a bad day etc. I seriously was thinking of slipping this dude my resume especially since they were back in the office in JULY and here we are still locked out in Sept.

Dh said that his office only wears masks when they are up out of their seat but they are still alternating days so he is in the office 2 days. We haven't returned to the office yet but we will be required to wear masks when we are not seated at our desks and they had the plexiglass installed around each cubicle.

I guess were more lax here, more comfortable, who knows. When anyone comes up into our office they take their masks off ( were on a different floor from most of the employees ). When on the sales floor or near vendors we all mask up.

I would be very uncomfortable if people were not wearing masks at work, especially if they were in close proximity to me. I even feel like 6 feet apart is not far enough.
If I see someone wearing it improperly at work, I call them out. My health is the most important thing. I am not jeopardizing my safety because someone else doesn't like a mask. I am in a mask for at least 8 hours a day and I expect my coworkers to do the same.

I'm curious to know what the DOH policy actually is on mask wearing at desks. My company is very conservative- not even letting any office open yet even in the lowest infection rate areas like here on Long Island- and I have to believe they are following the rules, regulations and procedures set forth by the state and the DOH for opening the offices because they are a huge publicly traded company with a very large legal and HR team, and they have said that at headquarters- which opened in June and any other offices that will open that mask wearing is not mandated at desks. So not sure what the DOH would do in the case where the rule is wear your mask except when seated at your desk- just like in a bar or restaurant.

Businesses can make their own stricter policies, but the DOH says you aren't required to wear a mask at your desk as long as you maintain 6 feet of distance. We reconfigured our work spaces so everyone was far enough apart that they did not have to wear masks while at their work stations or in their offices. That being said, I'm sure some companies CAN require it 24/7 if they wanted to or if they didn't have the space to distance. Also I believe it is still the case that you can only have up to 50% of office employees in the building at any one time. I do not wear a mask in my office but have to put it on if I walk down the hall or to the bathroom or kitchen just in case I run into another person. If we have a meeting in the same room, we typically try to space farther apart than 6 feet and leave the doors open so that we can pull it down, as it is very hard to talk for an hour while wearing a mask without getting dry or coughing (in which case everyone assumes you have the plague).

Yes. Our desks are not 6 feet apart from each other. Our company policy is also that masks must be worn at all times...people just don't follow the company rules and there aren't any repercussions. We have also had quite a few Covid cases, but fully grown adults in my office still don't get it.

Well it's company policy to wear a mask seated at your desk. Just my colleagues don't feel the need to follow company policy. And while Management threatens repercussions, they don't follow through.
