Another IUI/Injectables question....
What is the earliest cd you can start?
I wanted to do an inj cycle with my "new RE" last month and bitched up a storm and they refused saying it has to be started on cd1 and I need days for the meds to be ordered..... Is this correct bc I just think they were stalling again and another wasted month..
This cycle I am on cd1 today and called them and they can't get me in for monitoring early tomorrow bc they start at 7:30am (I see patients at 7:30 so no flexibility) and they are closed on weekends so basically I wouldn't see them until monday- cd5 and that would be too late. I freaked out on them again lol
So I called my old RE and they were very nice and gave me a priority time BUT said being that I was away for 2 cycles, they prefer me to see a DR to gather a game plan so I would have to wait until 7:30/8am when they come in LOL so I am stuck again...
SO my question is if I go in on monday for monitoring (cd5), is that too late for an injectables cycle with IUI? When did you start?

Re: Another IUI/Injectables question....
I have never done inj IUI but I do know with my RE , you can go for CD3 baseline up to CD5. So if they are going to start you on a cycle, they "should" be able to start you that day. I'm just not sure if inj meds time frame is the same as oral meds time frame.
I really hope you can get settled at an RE that you are comfortable with. Can I ask why you want to do IUI in the first place? You have been getting bfp on your own and you have similar issues as me so IVF is your best option bc of egg quality.

I agree with Phyllis, has your RE explained why you're not going straight to IVF?. I know its taking time which stinks but I would definitely consult with RE's until you find one you are comfortable with. Best of luck!

I'm so confused, I thought you were approved for the IVF and were getting geared up to start it.

Omg, I know, Phyllis. I am having such a hard time. As for the IUI's.... My former RE said my egg quality stinks but my hormones and age are good so I have a chance with IUI, plus I am getting preg on my own so by doing IUI with meds, it is increasing my chance of getting a good egg by getting a few. Plus having one tube, the meds will allow me to produce follies on the RT side giving me a chance for that lost month.
My 1st consult with my new RE went as follows- IUI will only give me a slim chance because my egg quality is poor and DH SA is poor so our only bet is IVF. Second consult with all of my records-- IVF is still your best bet but being that your hormones and age are good, IUI with meds can still get you pregnant.... lol back to square 1, right? So right now I am in limbo in my new office bc they want me to go right to IVF which I am approved for but he won't start unless he gets random things that are not even necessary for IVF lol so I am pissed with that office at the moment... I feel like they know I am approved and ready for IVF so they are not pushing anything else that may work. I already got into an argument with the front desk over this and even she was confused as to what is the delay at this point!!!!!
So... point is, with former RE when I was on clomid with IUI, I responded pretty good- always 2-3 follies from a low dose of clomid (50mg). New RE (who did not read my chart) says--"you are a poor responder. With clomid, you never got more than 1 follicle so that was a waste of treatment for you".. I corrected him and told him to re-read my chart bc I know exactly all my follie counts and he was tripping over his own words, stuttering. I made him read each cycle sheet and then said we may have a chance with IUI..LOL smh! At that point, me and DH were having second thoughts about this office. I do not have an issue getting pregnant at all. It's more of an issue staying and if it is egg quality, then the new RE said, as did my first RE.. it may just take higher stims to get a good quality egg out of a cycle. So basically I waited almost three cycles on paperwork and am not waiting anymore. I want to try something and if the new RE won't at least start me on IVF or at least a medicated cycle to see how I respond, then I am going back to where they were at least trying! My RPL came back great, all clotting factors are normal, lining is great after two water sonos and an HSG.. I just need to get going already! With one tube, I only have 6 chances unmedicated to get preg so I don't want to ******** anymore. Sorry, needed to vent all of that!

I AM!!! Approved and ready!! They keep delaying my start and when I asked him directly what can I do to get started with IVF this cycle, he looked at me and said, "I don't know.. check with a nurse to see if we have all of your records".. what does that have to do with anything. I told him I personally drove over all records and I am up to date with everything and he just put me in a room with a nurse and my chart and she said I needed all of this stuff when I didn't.. she said I needed DH's SA and I was like--- you guys obviously have it bc you submitted it for IVF approval and got it! Then she said I needed a consult to go over everything with him and I said I had two consults with him already and we agreed on IVF asap and got the approval! So now what? And she said she needed a basic HIV, Hep C and a surgical report from years prior that HE SAID I did not need LOL... At that point I went up to the receptionist and even she said she does not know what the delay in everything is... it's like no one knows what the hell is going on and I am left waiting with my IVF approval.. So beyond annoyed! I guess sometimes going to the slower, one DR offices are not the best either!

Another IUI/Injectables question....
I think that if you are NOT satisfied with the NEW RE then find an RE that you are comfortable with, that's you're NUMBER ONE PRIORITY.
After that, I think that at this point you need to make the decision if you want to keep going with the IUI's which haven't been working so far (in terms of achieving a successful pregnancy) but might with different meds... OR, since you know you are covered for IVF you want to just take that step and move forward to what appears to be your best chance.
But I can't stress enough that getting that doctor that you are comfortable with is the most important part of this whole process. [Really any process when it comes to your health, be it OB, RE, PCP, neuro, etc.]
Can you FM this new RE that you went to because there is no way in HELL I would have the patience for that practice, I'd go crazy. I'm in the "biz" and cannot CANNOT stand crap like that from offices.

I have a consult set with Dr. T at SIRM for December. I am also going to call Brenner at LI-IVF for a consult.
I am just annoyed bc I wrote that whole post about wasting time with my former RE bc he bashed them saying their treatment was not meant for me.. now after all diagnostics and his new tests, he is agreeing with them after all....... smh!!!

Yes, patience is a virtue but not with infertility!!! We gotta get moving!!! I work in offices and I know the behind the scenes run around situations so I know they are not prioritizing! They have the approval, the $$ and are just pushing me along, forgetting that patient time is valuable!

100% you have to confident in the Dr. and practice you choose. That is honestly the first thing you need to figure out.
Then, in my personal opinion, if I had IVF coverage I wouldn't waste any more time with IUIs. Yes, making more than 1 follie a month will give you a better chance at getting a good egg BUT you still don't know if it's a good egg unless you are doing IVF and they can actually see them. That's where I am right now. I have only been pregnant once in all this time but we have to "guess" it was due to my egg quality. I am done with IUIs and all the guesswork that it involves. So even without coverage, we are going ahead with the IVF.
So #1 Find a Dr. you feel good with. #2, tell that Dr. you are ready for the next step!

Ok i'm glad you have other consults set up. I know a lot of girls on this board seem to be happy with both of those RE's so hopefully you can get in with Brenner sooner than December.

True! Then again, it could be a good idea to relax this cycle. Get your body and mind ready for IVF next cycle. It's a buttload of information and I was glad to have an entire month to really go over everything and learn as much as I could

Another IUI/Injectables question....
Hey Lillies - Here's some info from own personal experience: I started injectables on CD 3 for 2 cycles. This current cycle I started CD9 (they waited for 0 beta). Yes, you do need time for meds to come - but it takes a day or two at most. They are shipped to you. I know you have GHI so make sure that you get them to order you the MAX because you only get three fills per lifetime. My RE ordered me 10 boxes of Gonal, which will take me through MINIMALLY 3 iui's, and one IVF if I need it. With all that being said - you NEED to go to a DR you believe in - just like the other girls stated. Even though you are covered for IVF - I say why not try an IUI with injects - if it is covered. Especially if this can tie you over. I think you had asked before about LI IVF - this nonsense would never happen with them (at least in my experience). Good luck! If you want to talk about IUI's, fm me:)

Re: Another IUI/Injectables question....
I just want to say I never had an experience where the RE couldn't see you. My RE started monitoring at 7am. Two drs were in at that time, and you didn't have an appt so first come, first served. If you wanted to be seen first, it was your responsibility to get there early.
Personally, I'd find a new RE that makes you a priority, not a convenience.

Re: Another IUI/Injectables question....
I called them on CD2 asking if I can start and iui cycle. They told me to come in the very next day. We started the injectable iui cycle on CD3. They loaned me meds until my meds were delivered on CD5.
I'm so sorry your new RE is being so difficult.
