Any advice on Kitty's Bewitching Hour? (11:30ishPM-2ishAM)
I love my little piggy (shes about a year old) and buttons and smokey are 3 and 4) - piggy came to live here when she was only 5 weeks old, so all three of these monsters have been accustomed to competing in the 'KITTY OLYMPICS 2009 BEGINNING AT 11:30PM DAILY' - they all took a gold medal at the 2008 version and are very close to gold in the 2009 edition. Although we really really dislike our neighbors downstairs from us, apparently they must sound like the apocolyps (sp?) when they run track up and down the hallway, because our neighbors are constantly slamming doors and hitting our floor it sounds like... any ideas on how to break them of this late night activity? TIA

How much play time do they get with you during the day? My kittens are alone most of the day while we are at work and sleep probably the entire time. They are also training hard core for the kitty Olympics by getting up at all hours of the night. I've found that tiring them out with a good 20-30 minutes of play time with us at night (involving lots of chasing toys, strings, etc.) or 15 mins in the morning and another 15 at night, helps tire them out a bit more.
It has not, however, taught them that we don't get up at 10 to 6 in the morning on Saturdays and Sundays.

I can tell you from experience that it does sound like a heard of elephants on the floor below(where a family member sleeps). It's amazing how loud it actually sounds.
My cats are more active at night as well. Not as much, since they got older.
I have only found two things that work :
- getting out of bedding and yelling at them. - when it gets bad, I put them in the extra bedroom. They settle down since they cant run around in there.
Catnip on their rug does chill them out, I dont know if that would work at night. My cats will just sit on that rug for hours once the catnip is on it.
Good Luck !
