Any experience with lung cancer- please read.
We just learned my mom has lung cancer.
I am beyond devastated.
Please if anyone has any recommendations for the following, I am begging for you to FM them to me.
- a thorassic oncologist in NYC - a therapist that does guided imagery and visualization for cancer patients in NYC
- an alternative nutrition doctor for cancer patients.
Thank you so much if anyone has any info- I truly truly appreciate it.

My former boss is a breast cancer survivor and is constantly singing the praises of Sloan Kettering. Their website alone is a great resource, and they have information on lung cancer http://www.mskcc.org/mskcc/html/376.cfm
Keeping you in my thoughts!

Yes, absolutely follow up with Sloan. I also am pretty sure they have satellite offices at Mercy in RVC and I believe in Commack maybe?
I know someone who works there as well in the city and the technology they have along with the knowledge/expertise of the doctors is amazing.
I also think there is a hotline based in the city called "Cancer Care" or something like that that you can call and they will share resources.

First off, I'm so sorry you're dealing with this. Many and .
We went through this with my FIL a few years ago.
Is it small cell or non-small cell?

I don't have recommendations for those specialists. I lost my father to lung cancer/metastasis 2 weeks before my wedding.

Re: Any experience with lung cancer- please read.
I'm sorry to hear this. I don't have recommendations, but my father was diagnosed with stage 3 lung cancer almost six years ago and after going through chemo, radiation and surgery to remove 1/2 of his lung, he's been cancer free for over 5 years now.

Re: Any experience with lung cancer- please read.
I am so sorry to hear this.
MIL had lung cancer. She did die of it at the age of 82, but the docs gave her 4 years of life when they originally only thought 3 months. It was non-small cell, and diagnosed at stage 3B.
Oncologist : Dr. Bhoomi Mehrotra, 718-470-8934 Thorasic Surgeon : Dr. Frank Manetta, 718-470-7460 Both at Long Island Jewish/North Shore.
I can't say enough about these two doctors and their staff.

Re: Any experience with lung cancer- please read.
My aunt is currently battling this. She lost a lung already and it returned. She is undergoing chemo and rads right now. She's 84. She's a fighter. She sees a doctor at Sloan in long island.
I can find out the doc's name for you if you want.
