i have never heard of it so i did a google search--it has mixed results.
some say it is a scam but many others say it's legit. there's also controversy about how you're "selected" since invitations had been sent to a child that was dead for years--PTPI agreed to change their "selection" criteria.
google it with different words like scam and reviews. hopefully that will help!

I'm not familiar with this program specifically but there are many like this that exist. They are usually legit but they cost $$$. It's a money maker program that the kids do have a good experience but usually, it's a random invitation leading the parent to believe that their child was specifically picked and they put pressure on you not to miss out on this chance. If you have the $$ to spare, she'll probably love it. If not, don't put yourself in debt scraping it up to go to this.
Lots of parents think colleges will go crazy for something like this on a resume, and the truth is, they KNOW that usually the rich kids have a ton of this kind of stuff just because they have $$. It's not as impressive as you'd think.
Read up on the program. If you have the $$ and Krissy thinks she'll enjoy what they're going to be doing, than do it. If not, don't give it another thought.
JMO of course

Janet,
Organizations like that send mass invitations to students. They make it seem like a honor to be selected. But it is really just a mass mailing!
We have students who come into school all the time very excited and then I have to burst their bubble.
They charge a bundle to attend their invitation only program!

People to People is a LEGIT organization. It is run by the US government via the state department. it is basically a program that takes kids from the US abroad to other countries. A friend of mine has chaperoned several trips with them. teachers or former participanrs or chaperones nominate kids to particiapte. from what my friend told me, it's a bit pricey for the kids...they pay their own way on the trip and since they have to book into certain hotels and hire a travel guide, etc. etc. it's not as cheap as it would be if you did a trip like that on your own. that said though, it's a good program in the sense that it gives kids a chacne to travel with their peers and go to a place they might not ever get a chance to go to. the OFFICAL website is:
