Any tips on how I can get DS to sleep later in the AM?

Troy used to sleep 7pm to 7am. Then he started getting up at 6:30am.

Then he was sick and was waking during the night for about 2-3 weeks.

Finally started sleeping though the night again. But then somewhere about 2 weeks ago (or so) he started waking up earlier and earlier where now he is waking at 5am!

It is running it's course on me as I am the one who is more often than not getting up with him. DH helps when he can, but every other week he works until 1am (then add on a 90 min commute).

So, any suggestions??? His bedtime has remained the same. We did try putting him down later, but it didn't make a bit of difference.

TIA

ETA: He is in daycare M-F 8:45a-5:45p and naps very well there, usually 12ish to 2ish

Well Ale is about the same age and only naps for an hour to an hour and a half a day. And she sleeps about 12 hours straight through - sometimes she wakes at 2 or 3 am but goes right back to sleep until 7:30 or so.

Can they cut back his nap at daycare??

What do you do when he wakes? When Ale wakes too early, I change her, give her a bottle and rock her back to sleep - it usually works.

Jack goes to bed by 6:30 and most days he is up by 5:30

I notice if he doesn't nap well that day he will get up even earlier.

I give him a bottle and then put him back in his crib -- he will usually chill out in there for about an hour or so. I can't tell if he falls asleep or not since I am passed out.

When he is done in the crib I have a pack and play in my room and he goes in there and watches TV.

I am not sure about cutting back naps at daycare, but something I can inquire about.

In the morning, when he wakes- he more often will wake up content and I can get in there before he gets upset and starts crying. I get him up and give him milk and we chill in the livingroom. I have tried a couple times to put him back down and he resists.

He used to do that- but there are other factors that have changed in the past 4 months.

We moved to a new apartment in July.

He started daycare, first 2 days a week for about 1 month then full time about 6 wks ago.

And I started working full time, for the first time since he was born.

I am not sure if or how these thigns have effecting his sleep.

Hi Jill! Any chance he's hungry and you could try feeding him a bit more before bed? Maybe an after dinner snack?

Also, do you keep his room dark? I find if there's any daylight peeking in my kids' windows they wake up earlier.

Good luck, 5 AM is rough!

Hey there! Not sure he's hungry as he's eating dinner not that long before bed (between 5:30 and 6pm).

BUT. . . we DID put a nightlight in his room recently!! Maybe I will take that out and I've been putting off buying curtains for his room!
