Anyone besides me have a tough time turning 30?
I know it's just a number, but ever since my birthday last week I've been feeling depressed. At my cousin's graduation party tonight, I felt so old with all of the teenagers and young adults there. Is it just me or anyone else have a tough time turning the big 3 0?

DH makes fun of me all the time.
My nephews still think I'm 25, and that is all they will ever know

It only gets better as you get older 
I turned 35 this past week and although I have to get over the "number", I am pretty happy with myself. I am in a "place" that I wasn't 10, 15 years ago.

For some reason 25 was harder.
For me too. No other birthday was harder then 25 for some reason.
For me my thirties were when all wonderful things happened, at least for me.

I am. I'll be 30 next month and it's hard.  Not sure why, but it's just like my life seems like such a straight line from this point on...Work, family, retire, die. The days of being spontaneous (truly spontaneous) are done, because there are entirely too many responsibiliities. And I think I saw a wrinkle last week.
Many of my friends had big parties, but I think I've decided to go away with DH instead of having a party. My MOH said that was selfish of me to want to go away instead of sharing it with my friends by having a party.

that's not selfish at all. it will probably mean more to u with going away than having a big party

Exactly! I think she's hurt because my exact words were something like I think I'd prefer to spend the money on a vacation with DH...Well, she took that to mean that I'd rather spend time with him than her...which is true!
It's just that I think I spend much of my life being selfless and thinking entirely of others, and now at this time when I want to do something for myself, I am accused of not thinking of the other people who want to celebrate with me. You cannot please everyone. 
I do think my single friends are having a harder time turning 30. My BF felt a lot of pressure because she wants to get married, have kids, etc., and has no prospects in sight on her 30th birthday.

I love being 30. I turned 30 in April. I think I've learned a heck of a lot in my 20's to not screw up as much in my 30's. Yes, I'm looking forward to my 30's.

Im much closer to 40 and I dont really give a crap. Despite all that I may not have, there is a heck of a lot that I do.
Oh and already told DH to start saving for my party in 2 years. May sound demanding - too bad - I ask for very little.

It was a little freaky, partially b/c I thought that by 30, I'd have a house and kids. So I think at 18, I set myself up for some disappointment. However, I remind myself daily that in all honesty, I still think I'm 20. I don't think I *look* 30 and it's not that I'm immature or irresponsible, but I think I have a young way about me. Make sense? So that has helped me. 30 is not old. 30 is fun and it's not the number, it's how you carry it out. If you look at it like it's old, then it's old. If you look at it as if it's another candle on the cake and no matter what, you will have fun, then I think that relieves the anxiety.
ETA: finding three grey hairs...that's a whole other story!

30 bothered me big time. I had panic attacks for along time. I always had problems with anxiety since I was a kid, but 30 set me off for a few years. But I also had other problems, I was in debt, and I was living alone for the first time. 40 ...not so much! I'm 41 1/2 now.

I am turning 30 in Sept and DH is turning 30 next month. Neither one of us is upset about it. To us it is just another bday. neither one of feels older. To celebrate, we are planning to go to Florida and spend time in disney and universal. The only thing is that I feel more pressure now to TTC and finish grad school.

Me too! 25 was MUCH harder for me. Because I no longer checked the box 18-24 on forms. Now I was checking the 25-34 box!!! I said, "There's no difference between me and a 34 year old!" LOL

I had a tough time with 29. The thought that I was in the last year of my 20s was harder to handle. By 30 I liked where I was and had a very festive birthday week so I was OK. I know it's a number and all that, but it's still difficult!
