Anyone done Disney World in November - UPDATED QUESTION

Ok - so listened to y'all - which is better if not the week before thanksgiving - the first week of November or the week after thanksgiving? TIA!

Re: Anyone done Disney World in November (the wk before thanksgiving)?

A couple of years ago we went the Friday before Thanksgiving, and left ON Thanksgiving morning. The crowds were insane!

I would go the 16-23 or 15-22. I would not want to be there after the 23rd. The crowd calendar the week of the 16th runs from a 2-4 and the week of the 23rd it is an 8-9.

We were there the Sunday, Monday and Tuesday before Thanksgiving last year. It was very busy. I think a lot of people take the whole week off. If you can do the week before and leave by the time the thanksgiving crowds roll in that weekend you will be good.

This exactly. Things start getting crazy there the Saturday before Thanksgiving.

I am going week after 11/29 - 12/6, it's rated the #1 week to go as respects to the crowds and it's decorated for Christmas Chat Icon

I would do the week prior to thanksgiving but not the few days prior to thanksgiving.

We are looking into the first week of November this year. Should be very low crowds.

We go every year during this time with my parents and it is the absolute best time to go. DH and I have gone on our own at other times during the year, but nothing compares to this week- it's practically empty lol

Re: Anyone done Disney World in November - UPDATED QUESTION

Last year, we went the week after Thanksgiving and it really was lovely. the decorations were amazing and crowds were low (or low for Disney). We still did most of our rides during the mornings.

In 2011 we went 11/30-12/5 and it was awesome! Crowds were low, and everything was decorated for Christmas.

Here in VA, Fairfax County has these misc days off for teachers. The kids get 2 days off the first week of November so we are considering doing a 4 day long weekend trip to Disney. DS won't have to miss any school, not that it would make much difference to miss a few days in kindergarten.

Toss up. Advantages to both.

First week of November can be slightly more crowded. Think level of 4-5 mostly with 6-7 on weekends. Warmers weather low 80s is average so good swimming. You could do the Halloween party if you are there on Halloween.

1st week of December. Thankgiving weekend would be crowded but the week are crowd levels of 4. Cooler temps, upper 70/s could be lower 80s. Christmas parade tapes 12/6would be crowded. Might be able to do the Christmas party which starts in Nov. It runs three nights. Earlier park closing in Dec than in Nov.

Later in the year you go more chance of the flu or stomach bugs going around versus the Fall (but I wouldn't pick my dates based on this....just pointing it out).

Re: Anyone done Disney World in November - UPDATED QUESTION

I would pick right after thanksgiving if I were you. Holiday decorations are truly amazing.

This will be our 5th trip to Orlando so we are leaning towards 1st week of November. Our kids enjoy the pool probably equal or more than the actual parks. That is just our kids though.

If you look at the Touring Plans site, which many people have said is pretty dead on, they don't have crowds that high at all for first week in November. In fact, except for MK which they have at around 4 the other parks are all around 1-3 depending on the day.

I use to live in FL for a few years, those few weeks leading into Thanksgiving are awesome, it's usually so quiet because everyone is in school. Same for the 2-3 weeks leading into Xmas. Once you hit the week of the holiday though it's an insane nightmare. Xmas week is brutal.

The temps are much better, like you said, that time of year too. You won't melt. Bonus for me since I hate the heat!! Chat Icon

My DD has off for Election Day but we're pulling her the other days.......she will be missing 6 days total. (She will be in first grade) I refuse to ever go to Disney on school vacations, the crowds and prices are insane.

Check out yourfirstvisit.net. They rank the weeks to visit and they show the first week of Nov as Jersey week, so a little more crowded than the week after Thanksgiving. I would probably try to go when the holiday decorations are up, so I would prefer after Thanksgiving.

Touring plans are good but not as accurate as easy wdw. They pick certain parks certain days but then randomly pick the other, which often is not correct. I used both my last two trips and easy wdw was spot on. Whereas touring plans said very low like a 2 or 3 when it was actually much more crowded. The concession for at least a year is that easy wdw is more accurate.

Also 1st week of Nov is jersey week which can bring slightly higher crowds. Other parts of the country have started having breaks end of oct beg of nov wich makes crowds slightly higher.

We are not talking about a huge difference but yes slightly larger.

Etd to add also people caught on to quiet times and if you look at easywdw or disboards people say after going for years the crowds are slowly getting bigger bc of free dining and other discounts. Still a good time to go, but slightly higher than say 3-5 years ago.

It's hard to pick a time to go. I got so spoiled living down there a few years ago, I have little tolerance for big Disney crowds. Chat Icon

The best thing about easywdw is that it is FREE!! Listen I still get TP but I found we followed Josh's touring plans, FP hints and tips and we saw more than any other trip. He even breaks down the restaurants with picture reviews etc. such a helpful site.
