Walt Disney World attire & a few other q's
I have a few questions in regards to what I wear when I go to WDW. I do not have a lot of money to spend..
I assume I will mainly be wearing shorts/capris and t-shirts.. so my questions are...
1. do I need to bring any "dressy clothes" 2. do most pple wear sneakers to the pakrs for comfort? I HATE how sneakers look with shorts or capris but I might hafta do it, does any1 where sandals, like comfy thick velcro sandals.. (gosh im sucha dork) I wouldnt wear flip flops I imagine they will fly off during rides and my feet will hurt but any other shoe recommendations? 3. I plan on getting some kind of tiny book bag or fanny pack ( as u can tell my fashion sense will be zero on this trip lol) what should i always carry with me to the parks?? anything i wont think of? i wanna travel lite each day but wanna be prepared in the parks..
any other helpful hints or tips? thanks!!

Re: WDW attire & a few other q's
Fashion at WDW is pretty nonexistant, so definitely don't worry about it.
I only wear capris and shorts there. I didn't bother with skirts because we went to dinner straight from the parks.
Most people wear sneakers. You won't be alone wearing capris and sneakers. You do so much walking there, you really have to take care of your feet. I mainly wore flip flops, but people wear all different kinds of sandels.
For a bag, I bought a lesportsac bag and kept my wallet, cell, sunscreen and sunglasses with me. I like to travel light also. This bag was good because I didn't care if it got wet.
HTH.

Re: WDW attire & a few other q's
Walt Disney World! I think you'd be fine if you pack some capris, shorts, and tank tops or t-shirts. I would definitely bring sneakers, eventhough I don't like the way they look with shorts or capries either (I'm too short to pull off that look) only because you want to be comfortable if you're walking around all day but flip flops too. You could always pack a couple of cute dressy outfits in case you guys want to go out for a nice dinner. Maybe a sweatshirt or sweater and jeans or pants o wear at night in case it geta a little chilly? I probably shouldn't have answered this...I'm such an overpacker!

Re: WDW attire & a few other q's
LOL! Well, when we went, I did end up wearing sneakers just because of comfort and like you said I was afraid my flip flops would go flying on some ride. I cannot tell you how many people were wearing Crocs (funky looking shoe) they are supposedly super comfy and cool but good for walking. I refused to wear a fanny pack . I wore a casual bag that zippers that I wore diagonally across my chest (as opposed to on my shoulder) I had no problems, I just left it on me and tucked it next to me on rides. Hmm, what else? Let me think and I'll get back to you. I am SO jealous!!

Re: Walt Disney World attire & a few other q's
Thanks for telling us what it was, I was stumped. I haven't been there since I was small but would imagine capris, tshirts flops or sneakers. I was just thinking if you wear shorts would the seats of some of the rides be hot from the sun?
As far as dressy, I wouldn't bring dressy but maybe some cute outfits in case you go to Pleaseure Island. I think its a place with all clubs and bars.
Have fun!!!

Re: WDW attire & a few other q's
Ok... 1. You can bring a few "dressy" outfits (nothing crazy though) to maybe wear out to Pleasure Island or to Dinner at Downtown Disney..I wouldn't bring a lot though b/c most people dress pretty casual 2. The best advice I can give you is to wear sneakers!!!!! Believe me your feet will be hurting at the end of the day. You do a lot of walking at the parks and I don't know about you but if I wear flip flops they will eventually start to rub and make blisters. (Also I suggest packing some band-aids b/c even with sneakers you might wind up with a blister) 3. I'm not sure what you would call it but I bought a "drawstring" backpack when I was at Disney about three years ago and have been back twice and used it all three times. I would carry sunscreen, a bottle of water, camera, wallet, sunglasses case (since you can't wear sunglasses on the rides) cellphone and any other things you think you might need ( I would sometimes bring a light jacket or long sleeve shirt b/c it can get cold at night if you are staying at the park all day)
My advice for WDW would be to take advantage of the "fast pass" you can get a ticket for a ride that is popular with a designated time to come back and bypass the line at that desingated time. It is great for popular rides and you can get more accomplished.....that's all I can think of now..if I think of more I'll post again... Enjoy!!!!

Re: Walt Disney World attire & a few other q's
If you get a little back pack, which is a good idea also, you could wear your sneakers and throw a pair of flip flops in it. I brought a few cute skirt outfits, for our nice dinners. We went to 2 more fancy restaurants but it depends on where you're going to eat.

Very good advice, I agree on all points. I'd also recommend keeping some tylenol or something with you, I remember getting a terrible headache and I was stuck on line for a while. Lastly, I'd recommend keeping a plastic poncho incase it rains while you're at the park. Pick one up at the dollar store, cause they'll charge you quite a few more.

Re: Walt Disney World attire & a few other q's
1. Overall disney is pretty casual. There are a couple of signature restaurants that prefer business casual which suggests no jeans, printed T's, bathing suits or bathing attire and sneakers. They are not fancy just neat - dressier shorts, capris, collared shirts for men (golf shirts are fine).
2. I alternate between wearing sneakers and my "walking" sandals. You will be doing a TON of walking -- I read the average is 8 miles during a full day at the park. After 2 or 3 days of that plus all the standing around it really doesn't matter what kind of shoes I wear, my dogs will be barking.
3. I travel super light in the parks -- just my room key/park pass, driver's license, camera, some cash and lip balm -- all this fits into a little wristlet or my pocket. If you are staying on property, you can have all of your purchases sent to your resort (it will arrive the next day) so you don't need to carry items with you all day.

Wear sneakers!!! My feet were killing me from so much walking and I was wearing sneakers.
I think that they wont let you on certain rides if you are wearing flip flops if I remember correctly. Hmm, maybe that wasn't Disney......

Re: Walt Disney World attire & a few other q's
I just went to disney for the 4th. This is what I can tell you.
I would wear comfy sneakers (and I am soooo not a fan of the shorts/sneakers look either.) I have a pair of Puma's that I wore -- but they kill my heal so I ended up in a low pair of flips - but by the end of the day my back was killing me.
I wore my messenger bag one day - and my fanny pack the other day (It is a Gucci one - not a faggy fanny
) I would def. only wear something that you can wear over your shoulders.
Did you buy your day passes online yet? I would def. do that also so that you don't have to wait that day. I also suggest NOT getting the hopper ticket which IMO is a waste of money. You just will not have enough energy to go to two parks in one day.
Get the fastpass tickets for the ride -- they are the best.
I think that's it for now - if I remember correctly you are going in Sept. so it won't be as brutally hot as it was when I went.

Re: Walt Disney World attire & a few other q's
Sneakers are a MUST but if you go to Animal Kingdom to get on Kali River Rapids you should bring flip flops in your bag..also, bring a plastic bag to put your backpack or camera in on water rides.
Don't wporry about fashion BELIEVE me.
I always bring one nice outfit, there are a few restaurants that are upscale. Fanny pack is better than mini backpack for convenience because it's around your waist and you won't have to take it off on rides...if you rbing a backpack (carries more), you have to wrap it around your leg on rollercoasters
Trust me when i say that fashion is really not a concern at WDW, except if you're going out for a nice dinner.
Also, if you go to the clubs in PI, they're casual, but you'll want to have an outfit for that.
HAVE FUN!

Re: Walt Disney World attire & a few other q's
Carry with you, any meds you might need, insect repellant, sunscreen, extra batteries, tums/immodium, etc, motion sickness meds if you need them, flip flops for water rides, and a poncho for rain and or water rides (at the park mickey ones are like $7), you can roll 'em up and put it in a pcoket of the bookbag.
EVERYONe wears strapped sandals, like tevas, etc. Honestly, worry about comfort, not fashion!

Re: Walt Disney World attire & a few other q's
Okay, I go to WDW A LOT! Here are the best tips I can give... When you go it is not about style at all. There is tons of walking to do, it is all about comfort! SNEAKERS!!!!!!!! Make sure you have good ones, you will need them for sure. Light clothes, comfy shorts and tanks! Bring something cute if you go out for a nice dinner... Sunscreen, good socks, a hat or sunglasses, but most of all the sneakers!
