Anyone ever feel like someone is trying to make you sound like a bad mother??

Its a long story so I wont post much but there are a certain few people in my life that make me feel like the way I mother is wrong. example.....I use the wrong water for my child, I should have put her on cereal when she was 3 months, she should be on milk now.....and the topper is she only spits up when I am with her.

My DD is almost 9 months and has had a severe spit up problem since she is born, I have taken her to a specailist she has had some testing but yet she only spits up when she is with me (this is what they say....so not true) We have changed her formula 4 times at the drs request and we finally have her on the right one...but now I am told that I use the wrong water to make her bottle (from these few people...not the dr).
I dont know what to do anymore but crying every morning is just not working anymore....I just need to vent bc I really feel like I am doing the best job as a mother for my little one yet I find myself crying alot about how certain people view me.
ONE MAJOR POINT HERE;;;;; they do not say anything negative (to me) when my DH is around........ (I know I was alittle vague but you can get the important part of the story.)

Unfortunately there will always be someone that has something to say. You are doing the best that you can, you have to try not to listen to them. You are doing the right thing, this is your child and you know what is best for her.

I really don't have any advice, except, you are doing an awesome job, and you are a great mommy!!!

I'm sure you're doing a wonderful job. Whoever this person/people is/are need to keep quiet since they have no idea what they're talking about. Maybe they are just jealous. Sorry you have to deal with this. Try to ignore it. You know best when it comes to your DC.

You need to tell this person to mind their own business and when you want their opinion you'll ask for it!!!

I consider myself a pretty educated person, and do take the time to research things. That beign said there is still someone who ALWAYS thinks she knows more than me and also tries to make me feel like I suck at parenthood. I also get the "funny timing" about how the conversations are never around DH.


Bottom line, you know your child more than anyone, and if you know you are doing all you can to make things as good as you can then they can bugger off.

You need to get their comments out of your head. you said it yourself, you are doing the best for your daughter that you know how. Period. End of discussion.

YES, my MIL....everyday she makes me feel like a HORRIBLE mother, she always finds the negatives in things I do, especially when it came to Christopher

I think this happens to a majority of us ,sadly to say !! I have 3 daughters and still people comment and it gets under my skin like you wouldnt believe !! Like a couple of weeks ago I brought my 2 month old to the bus stop to get my kids and I didnt have hat on the baby b/c it was really warm , well she commented about that, that the baby was going to get sick !And it would be hard for me to say dont let it bother you ,when it also bothers me !! I really wish people would just mind their own buisness unless necessary !!

Seriously I hate people who criticize parenting skills. Every mother knows whats best for her child...every child is different and whats best for one is not the best for others. You sound like an excellent mother...I wouldn't take their comments to heart and tell them to stuff it when they try to make another comment to you.

I went through the same thing with the spit up. MIL said DS did not have a problem because he did not spit up when she fed him. According to her the spit up was caused by feeding him too much, not burping him enough, not holding him, the wrong bottles etc. You are a good mother, there are always people who think they know better or feel better by putting people down.

I'm so sorry!!!

Do not let negative people get you down! Have faith that you are the one who knows your child the best and make the best choices for that child. That's a terrible feeling that was one thing I never anticipated about motherhood

well I know just from our conversations you are a fantastic mother that would do anything for her children.....
so tell her I said pffft!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Unfortunarelly it comes with the perk to be a parent.

Do what is best for your DC and don't worry about what others say.

That's how my old babysitter was so I fired her. She was constantly criticizing me and I had enough of it. I'm so much happier now.

If this is someone you cannot cut out of your life, please find it within yourself to stand up to them and tell them to STFU - because if they want to help you they're not; they're only hurting you. Undermining your parenting skills will not make you a better parent, it will only teach you to doubt yourself when anyone with any clue knows MOMMY KNOWS BEST!

And from the little that you've shared, their information is WRONG. Babies don't HAVE to start cereal at 3 months. I wonder how much other misinformation they're feeding you.
