Anyone ever try to cancel Optimum and switch to Verizon
Holy Cow!!! Optimum doesnt let you get off the phone!!! They totally bash Verizon!!! It's horrble!! I actually had to hang up on the guy!!
It bothers me that they raised my rate to $170 (I have NO MOVIE CHANNELS) Then when I call to disconnect they tell me they could give me exactly the same thing for $110!!! 
How about doing that in the first place and people wouldn't disconnect!! I waited 15 mins on hold on their disconnect line.. Im not surprised!!
OK vent over!!!

its their bs.. I call to cancel every year so they readjust my rate.. I love arguing with them. This time around I got locked in for 2 years

They all do that.. when i called Verizon to inquire about their rates vs. Optimum, they bashed Optimum and tried to convince me to switch. I ended up not switching because they would only sign me up for 2 years (i wanted to do just 1 ) and the savings just wasn't enough to convince me to switch from Optimum.
It's all a game, they all play it.
Just depends on which service you prefer

Linda that is ridiculous!!! My parents just switched over to Verizon as well and they are getting soo many more channels for less money. Optimum is a ripoff!!!

Optimum is ridiculous and the story about what they can and can't do for you changes by the day and who you get on the phone. And not only that, but relatives called to cancel with opt and they told them they couldn't do anything for them. So they switched to Verizon. Then Opt calls them back and asks what it would take to get them back. Opt was willing to pay the fee to breakt heir contract with Verizon and give them the package for way cheaper!!!! It's such a ridiculous game you have to play with these people!

omg, i dealt with the same thing!!
they wouldnt renew my triple play.. so we were cancelling to switch over to verizon.. they gave us such a hard time.. so a week after our Fios was installed we started getting flyers from optimum to get the triple play.. what thieves

It's crazy!!!! I hate the games..(and im sure it goes for both companies) but if you are saying now you can offer me the same package for $110 instead of $170...doesn't that mean you were overcharging me $60. So noooo thank you!!!

One of their sales reps showed up uninvited at my door step a few weeks ago trying to get me to switch back to Optimum. He didn't care that I am happy with FIOS since he was too busy bashing them while I closed the door in his face
