Anyone get a Rhogam shot??

My girlfriend called me flipping out last night becasuse her DH took a message from her OB and (OF COURSE) didn't ask why or what it was for. He just wrote "Rhogam" on a piece of paper.

I know it's something to do with being RH Pos or Neg but what are the specifics again??

I had it, you get it if you are RH -
I think you have to get it at 6 weeks, I needed it early because I was spotting.

I had to get it. I am A- and DH is O+. You get it at around week 28. Once you deliver, you might have to get a 2nd shot of it.

I had it too. You are supposed to get it around your mid to late 20s (Week wise) and then you may have to get one again after giving birth depending on what your child is. My child was A- so I didn't need another shot.

It has to do with the fact that your friend's blood is RH negative A B or whatever - and since they don't know what the baby is she has to get the shot to prevent her body from trying to attack the baby's blood should the 2 mix or something like that.

I know with my daughter I had to pick up the shot at the pharmacy and bring it to my appointment (must be kept in a fridge) but this time they gave it me there.

Tell her not to freak.
