Anyone have a Fireplace or Pellet Stove not up against exterior walls?
Anyone have a pellet stove or fireplace that is not placed on the other side of an exterior wall? How are they vented? I want to look into a pellet stove for our new house but I doubt they can be placed just anywhere. I do think there are vent free fireplaces, right? Are those what's used in bedrooms or bathrooms?

We had a wood burning stove near but not up against the exterior wall. The pipe went straight up to the ceiling which was a vaulted ceiling so it went straight out.

If it is not on an outside wall, the vent has to be run to the outside wall and then outside. It does not have to go through the roof. We are having one installed and because of our window situation, the vent will go through the wall to the utility room, up about three feet and then vent to the outside.

Thank you! We are buying a ranch so going through the roof wouldn't be that bad. It didn't even cross my mind that they can be vented though roof - lol.. airhead!

My parents have one in a ranch style home. The fireplace is in the middle of the house...separating the living room and dining room.
They had the pellet stove installed in there and it goes out the chimney I'd imagine.
