Re: anyone have a sleep study? UPDATE :(
Posted by PaddysGirl
I refused to go back for another test and I had moderate/sever sleep apena. My doctor was able to put it through to my insurance so that I got a machine that regulated the air pressure based on me. I didnt have to test out the machine in a second study. He put it in as I was having anxiety and panic attacks due to the first test.
Most of the CPAP machines regulate the air pressure now. CPAPs work for most people, which is why the doctor was OK without a 2nd test, but I couldn't function with a machine at all, and a coworker who is going through sleep studies/machines/etc has an issue with his nasal cavities, not his throat, so the CPAP isn't really benefiting him.
It's awesome when you can get a solution right away, but for some of us, a 2nd or 3rd study is really needed.

... Good to know. The pulmonologist mentioned a chance of tmj since the jaw is protruded. Did they mention this to you?
The report said moderate apnea, so im hoping the app works
I don't think it was mentioned. With my appliance, I adjust it slowly, so it's a more natural stretching over many months or years, even. All jaws protrude, it's how we are able to talk and chew properly, so I don't see how slowly stretching the jaw muscles would cause any real problems. Yes, if you start off with it cranked all the way out, it's going to hurt, but it's like touching your toes. If you can only reach your shins, if someone forces you all the way to your toes, it's going to hurt a lot. However, if you do it gradually, your body will adjust.

Re: anyone have a sleep study? UPDATE :(
My DH has severe sleep apnea.
Double check with insurance because the dentl appliance is extremely expensive (about $4,000) and our insurance would not cover it at all until DH tried the CPAP for a set amount of time. With our insurance at least, you can't just jump to the dental appliance, it's a gradual process.

I've been in the same boat. My DH took the test, refuses to wear the mask & I can't sleep at night because of the uneven breathing.
I feel your pain.
