Anyone have PGD testing??
Just came from my consult after my second miscarriage at 9 weeks. I also had a chemical in May. I have had 4 iui's and got bfp 3 times but keep losing them. My dr suggested IVF with this preimplantation genetic diagnosis test... Not covered by my insurance :( has anyone had this done?

Re: Anyone have PGD testing??
I haven't done it but it was recommended by one of my RE's and was told to avoid it by another. Same issue as you.. getting preg but losing each time. One RE said it will be a good thing bc they can check each embie for chromosomal issues while another does not want me to risk it bc my egg quality is low and I may compromise the few that I have. It's very expensive.. I was quoted around $5000 and not covered by ins unless you have a documented genetic issue. Have you done and RPL testing?

Anyone have PGD testing??
I had all the genetic testing done and the test to check my tubes. Once AF comes I will have the saline sono. I was told it would be about $5000 as well. I am still waiting to hear from the lab about the results of the d&c. How do you know if your egg quality is low??

Re: Anyone have PGD testing??
I had multiple losses and we did PGD for my successful IVF that brought me my DS. IT's not foolproof though. Even with the PGD, I still had a loss. My DS originally had a twin brother in there who we lost. I would speak to your doctor about the pros and cons for your particular case.

Thank you so much for your responses. Do you know if the cost is for each ivf? We were quoted about $5000

Re: Anyone have PGD testing??
You would pay the full cost each time you do a retrieval. So, if you do a retrieval and do PGD, then transfer and you don't get pregnant, you don't pay more money for PGD if you do an FET. However-- if you do another IVF cycle, yes you are paying that money all over again.
Infertility treatments is like being at a casino!
eta: wanted to add, with that many losses, have you done the recurrent pregnancy loss panel? (bloodwork)
I would give a call to Dr.Kofinas (the perinatologist in Garden City) and speak to him about your case.

Penny - would you only consider it after one loss or multiple? Just curious. And I know you're the resident expert ;)

I wish this weren't my area of expertise PGD I would just recommend after multiple losses. There are many causes of early miscarriages, not just genetic. I would investigate other causes first, since PGD is so costly and can only be done in conjunction with IVF.

Re: Anyone have PGD testing??
Ha! excellent idea, maybe I could coin 'hula therapy' while I'm there and make millions.
Hulla therapy (n.) - therapy which involves movement of the hips in a dance motion while wearing grass skirt and thinking fertile thoughts while eating macadamia nuts.
Boom.
