Anyone here get the Pertussis shot for you?

I had my annual check up with my doctor this morning and I had a tetanus / pertussis booster. I didn't have time to think as I had to run to a Ped appointment with my son but just wondered if any of you have had this shot recently.

Not yet, but I am planning on it. My DD's Dr. and my Dr. said its a good idea!

Yes, and it kicked my @ss!!

I would get it again, I don't regret it BUT I got a fever and I was not able to use the arm for a week!

I got it in the hospital last year when I delivered my . My arm was so sore for over a week, painful to lift very high or overuse at all. But glad I had gotten it.

I got it when DD was born a few months ago. Thankfully I wasn't sore at all but DH was after he got the shot too. We both wanted to be sure we had the booster.

I did. I was fine. A little soreness (as usual)... but fine.

I'm glad I got it: pertussis is going around.

I did. I declined in the hospital, then talked to my ped and she strongly suggested both DH and I get it. We both had sore arms for a couple of days, that's it.

Yes, I got it in the hospital when I had DD.

I got it in the hospital after DS was born. DH got it 2 weeks before and my parents got ut the week before.

None of us had reactions.

Oddly enough- my hospital did not offer it to me- I would have taken it if they did.

My question now is- DD is over 1 year old and has had all her shots on time.
Isn't she fully immune now to pertussis from her own vaccines?
Do I still need to get it this year?

got it in the hospital after DS was born. no reaction at all to it except for a small bump on my arm for about a week.

When I delivered DS 4 weeks ago the hospital kept pushing for me to get that shot, like 4 nurses came to 'talk' to me about it. I still haven't gotten it, I wasnt to discuss it more with my doctor first.

Thanks for your replies. I had never thought about it - if I had I would have probably researched the ins and outs of it and stressed myself out so it was probably as well I was caught on the fly and just had it.

I got it in the hospital after having DS. My arm was pretty sore afterwards, but that was about it.

I got it after I gave birth and my arm was slightly sore, but it was really nothing

I got it in the hospital after DD was born. Besides my arm being sore for a few hours it was no big deal.

Same here, received it in the hospital after I had ds a few months ago. No reaction, not even sore from what I can remember.

I. Got it in the hospital when I had DD. I had a little soreness at the injection site, and it looked like a giant mosquito bite, but that was it.

No, we refuse it.

Both hubby and I got our annual physicals this month. They asked about the booster and whooping cough. I don't know what my hubby told them but he got no shots.

I told them I have a 3yr old at home. She's in preschool with other children, she is vaccinated. I think its is unnecessary, what do you think?

He looked at me and said "it helps booster your immune system and there has been an increase in whooping cough cases"

I said "here?" "umm, not really" then why are you giving me a shot again? Why would you give me a booster if you dont know I need it either?

He (is cool btw) said "Youre right. Its just second nature to ask and assume you will feel it is a safe measure." I never said it wasn't. I just said it was unnecessary.

He said "you may be right" and went on. Never pushed.

I got it. I wanted it in the hospital but we were discharged when they were evacuating because of the hurricane so they never offered it. We told our ped and they gave it to both DH and I. DH's arm was a little sore and I didn't feel anything.
