It is so ridiculous. People should do what they feel comfortable doing. If you are vaccinated and want to take your mask off, then do it, and should not have to feel guilty, or feel like people are staring at them. Those that are not, should do the right thing. We live in a society, where people are so darn judgmental.
I went to home depot Friday night- it was the first time I'd been in a store since the new guidelines and I wasn't sure what to do- we wore masks in the store (when we were outside in garden center, we didn't) and this lady comes walking towards us, no mask on- I didn't even really think about it and she's says, crazy loud "look at these idiots! they voted for this F'ing president and they won't even listen to him now!" and her and her husband thought it was hilarious. Plenty of people around us had masks on, so I don't know that she was talking about us specifically. But, the point is- I didn't care she wasn't wearing one, WHY did she care that I was? That's what bothers me. MIND YOUR OWN BUSINESS.
That is 100% Pure Obnoxiousness at its very finest.
God help anyone that approaches me like that. I will absolutely lose my $hit!!!
Just NO FNG WAY!!!
Which is hilarious because “all the idiots” who voted for Trump didn’t listen to HIM when he wanted vaccines to be rolled under his reign. Those same “idiots” didn’t listen to him when he and his entire family got the vaccine. Now suddenly vaccines are bad, it’s microchip, it’s a Fauci conspiracy - yet Trump, Melania, Ivanka..all of them - got their shots.
People are just so stupid. The hypocrisy is real.
Like another poster said, it’s alarming how a global pandemic is political. But it was made political...
Is this a thing where people that are hesitant of the vaccine, or simply won’t take it are automatically Republicans, Trump followers? Cause I am neither of those things. Furthermore, I know several Democrats that are not planning to get vaccinated for at least now. And isn’t LI ‘supposedly’ majority Republican? If so, then how come Newsday just reported that LI has the best vaccination rate of any region in the state with 70% vaccinated or something like that? Hmmm but I thought Republicans, Trump supporters don’t want the vaccine??
If your question is genuine I have a theory about that that I am pretty confident about.
Yes, studies and polling show that there is a correlation between being a Trump voter and being anti mask/anti Covid vaccine. That has been established.
It's also been established that there is a mostly inverse relationship between education level and likelihood of being a Trump voter.
LI's education level is higher than average (also a fact.)
One more - this study shows a positive correlation between education level and desire to get the vaccine.
When I put this together, I conclude that Trump voters on LI are more highly educated than the average Trump voter and that's why vaccination rates on LI are higher than usual for a purple area.
Speaking of which, LI is very mixed and there are several different data points so it's hard to say definitively that it is predominantly Repub. Biden won Nassau and Trump Suffolk but by tiny margins. There are also down ballot races to consider, along with party registration. Basically, it's purple like most suburbs are, although some more than others.
Once again proves the, your brain gets smart but your head gets dumb.
Are you calling people who get the vaccine dumb?
Because I'm not sure how else that would read.

Why the hell is a virus and a pandemic and a vaccine political? I'm sure if you polled people you would find that more Pisces have gotten the vaccine than Aries or whatever. I know plenty of Republicans who raced to get it. I know plenty of Democrats who don't want it. Jesus Christ get over it.

There were questions asked about the political aspect and I was offering a theory about what the answer was.
I otherwise try to stay off of threads like this, but I thought it was interesting from a data standpoint.

Exactly and no one sees they are trying to correlate Trump supporters and republicans as people who don’t want the vaccine. I know people from each side and middle who want and don’t want it. It is same as race. If we keep calling out people for their political views or color, or will never end.

Anyone in NY gone to a store today
Speaking of vaccines and Trump, I was in trader joes’s yesterday and the customer in the checkout next to me asked the cashier about the no mask policy and if anyone had actually stopped wearing one. She politely said no, but she would love to because she is fully vaccinated and it’s hard to spend a whole shift wearing the mask. He screamed that she must be a trump supporter.

Sad that they allow customers but not employees who have to deal with wearing one all shift.

I think they do allow employees. But if the mere suggestion of not wearing a mask causes a customer to flip can you imagine what would happen if she weren’t wearing a mask at all?

People need to chill and keep up with the news that you are allowed to not wear a mask in many places. If that cashier is then he has no right to say anything.

Anyone in NY gone to a store today
I went into my local breakfast spot this morning. Wore my mask because it’s super crowded. Half the employees preparing food didn’t wear masks. Half the customers didn’t. No dirty looks anywhere. No confrontations. Business as usual.

Ok so removing your mask, after you are fully vaccinated AND the CDC and the state says you can makes you a Trump supporter. We are doomed.

That is great. Hopefully people will get more comfortable not wearing masks and if not continue and not even bother getting annoyed with ones who are not doing the same.

The place where my son plays hockey now has a sign if you are vaccinated, you do not need to wear a mask. I was so happy. It felt a little normal again, however, it is still 2 spectators per child. Even the employees working there had no masks on.

I would have asked that man when it would be safe then, in his non Trump supporter opinion, to remove the God D@mn masks Being vaccinated isn't good enough. So I guess we wear them forever? And I'd have called him a psychopath

I’m still trying to figure out why vaccinated people are so afraid of unvaccinated people? Science says they are protected. But until then....I’ll continue to just shrug my shoulders and move on.

I don’t get it either and I have friends how are vaccinated and ones unvaccinated and the vaccinated think it is crazy to be afraid of the ones who are not. They are like I am protected so why would I have to avoid the unvaccinated or still wear a mask? ALL government control. People can’t think in their own anymore and see the stupidly of this all.

So my DD has all her shots. I am, therefore, not afraid for her to play with another child who was not vaccinated for measles, mumps, polio ,etc etc. Why? Because SHE is protected. Does that not apply with this vaccine??

Re: Anyone in NY gone to a store today
It is. Cuomo wants control.
He just announced the excelsior pass is valid for a year. Science hasn’t come out and said the vaccine is effective for a year yet.
He decided unvaccinated need to wear a mask. Well science says you are protected by the vaccine not unvaccinated wearing a mask.
He doesn’t care if you currently have antibodies from a previous infection even tho science says you are protected. You need to wear a mask to protect who?
His goal, and he’s said it, is to be the first fully vaccinated state. He’s laying the seeds now.
Some here thought I was crazy when I said there will be places that only allow vaccinated people in....and here we are. Every day a new announcement allowing only vaccinated in.

Math/percentages/risk. Most people will look at the 95% protection as being pretty much 100%, so they are safe. There will always be people who look at the 5% break-through cases, and assume that they might be one of that 5%.
The same reason why people think they will win the mega millions lottery.

Exactly. I would hazard a guess and say the majority of vaccinated people feel protected and aren't afraid of anyone, vaccinated or not. I think the assumption that they are afraid is just fabricated drama.
Where masks are concerned, we've now ingrained in our society this new way of living. Some people will have no problem abandoning masks right away, others will proceed with caution. It will take time for the mindset to change and go back to "normal".
