It is so ridiculous. People should do what they feel comfortable doing. If you are vaccinated and want to take your mask off, then do it, and should not have to feel guilty, or feel like people are staring at them. Those that are not, should do the right thing. We live in a society, where people are so darn judgmental.
I went to home depot Friday night- it was the first time I'd been in a store since the new guidelines and I wasn't sure what to do- we wore masks in the store (when we were outside in garden center, we didn't) and this lady comes walking towards us, no mask on- I didn't even really think about it and she's says, crazy loud "look at these idiots! they voted for this F'ing president and they won't even listen to him now!" and her and her husband thought it was hilarious. Plenty of people around us had masks on, so I don't know that she was talking about us specifically. But, the point is- I didn't care she wasn't wearing one, WHY did she care that I was? That's what bothers me. MIND YOUR OWN BUSINESS.
Um if you are unvaccinated aren't you STILL supposed to wear a mask? How would she have known you were or weren't?
Yes, if unvaccinated you need to be wearing the mask, but as we know people are not following that. But when you rely on the honor system, that is to be expected...most people cannot be trusted unfortunately.

I’m not vaccinated and go into Dunkin’ everyday to get my mobile order without a mask. I walk in....grab my drink....walk out. No interaction with anyone. No reason to wear a mask.

Oh I meant for other things lololol
I doubt everyone you see was vaccinated. 500 people the other night. How many do you think were actually vaccinated with no masks? I don’t think all or even most.

I’m just saying, certain situations don’t warrant a mask. When you have no face to face interaction there is no reason to wear a mask. The risk is so low.

Which is hilarious because “all the idiots” who voted for Trump didn’t listen to HIM when he wanted vaccines to be rolled under his reign. Those same “idiots” didn’t listen to him when he and his entire family got the vaccine. Now suddenly vaccines are bad, it’s microchip, it’s a Fauci conspiracy - yet Trump, Melania, Ivanka..all of them - got their shots.
People are just so stupid. The hypocrisy is real.
Like another poster said, it’s alarming how a global pandemic is political. But it was made political...

Is this a thing where people that are hesitant of the vaccine, or simply won’t take it are automatically Republicans, Trump followers? Cause I am neither of those things. Furthermore, I know several Democrats that are not planning to get vaccinated for at least now. And isn’t LI ‘supposedly’ majority Republican? If so, then how come Newsday just reported that LI has the best vaccination rate of any region in the state with 70% vaccinated or something like that? Hmmm but I thought Republicans, Trump supporters don’t want the vaccine??

I’m specifically referring to the post. The poster said she was verbally harassed by someone who clearly made it political, assuming who she voted for.

I also find it funny when people say- well Trump got the vaccine- so if you are a Trump supporter you should be ok with getting it now. Um, since when do we worship politicians as gods? If I don't want to get a vaccine ,or do this, or do that, I am not going to suddenly do it because a politician, even one I support, does it. Sounds a little scary, to be honest, that kind of blind following of anyone for anything.

I asked the same thing when did we and why would anyone worship a politician??!! But the sad thing is yes there are plenty and plenty of Trump worshipers and it’s sickening. Honestly it’s sickening no matter who it is.
But they are out there especially the Trump ones.
Personally I feel like a good portion of Trump supporters are boarder line worshipers. But of course that’s my opinion and I say it because of Tully can’t admit that though trump may have done good he still acted immature and inappropriate a lot of the times and that he can/did no wrong at all I would probably consider that person a Trump worshiper. But again just an opinion.
Either way no one should worship any politician or hell anybody that’s famous
On top of Trump worshipers you have all the crazy conspiracy theory people which I refuse to get behind. Because the amount of people that have to be in a conspiracy is insane and sorry I can’t buy into that many people will be in on some of the ones out there.

Plenty of people around us had masks on, so I don't know that she was talking about us specifically. But, the point is- I didn't care she wasn't wearing one, WHY did she care that I was? That's what bothers me. MIND YOUR OWN BUSINESS.
That is 100% Pure Obnoxiousness at its very finest.
God help anyone that approaches me like that. I will absolutely lose my $hit!!!
Just NO FNG WAY!!!
I also find it funny when people say- well Trump got the vaccine- so if you are a Trump supporter you should be ok with getting it now. Um, since when do we worship politicians as gods? If I don't want to get a vaccine ,or do this, or do that, I am not going to suddenly do it because a politician, even one I support, does it. Sounds a little scary, to be honest, that kind of blind following of anyone for anything.
To be clear I am not of that mentality. But it is unusual how things have shifted.
Yeah I know what you mean. But I also look at as- well Trump is an older man and overweight- so he should ABSOLUTELY be getting that vaccine. I am thrilled my parents got it too. And my DH's friend who has literally every co-morbidity for Covid known to man- from asthma to COPD ,to diabetes, to heart disease. I couldn't wait for him to get the vaccine- I kept asking DH, did he get it yet, he needs to get it! But for me, I feel I can wait. Just my opinion. I don't begrudge anyone doing what they feel is best for themselves and their families. And I certainly do not look at me or anyone else getting or not getting a vaccine as an indication of their political leanings. It's sad and scary how far away this whole thing has gotten.

It is so ridiculous. People should do what they feel comfortable doing. If you are vaccinated and want to take your mask off, then do it, and should not have to feel guilty, or feel like people are staring at them. Those that are not, should do the right thing. We live in a society, where people are so darn judgmental.

Same boat as you. That’s why it would annoy me if I had that encounter in a store if I’m just doing my own thing, hurting no one, and some nut job came up to me with all those assumptions and nonsense.

You do know they had celebrities pushing this too with a concert on TV. They are trying everything and everything and the Trump thing needs to just go away. People are still hung up on him even though they wanted him out so bad they still talk about him. How about asking yourself why Biden takes zoom meetings with a mask on and after pushing the vaccine still double masks? Or why people were getting berated in Washington last week for not having them on when they were all vaccinated?

Society in general just doesn’t know how to communicate or have any respect for anyone. If I was so upset by someone not wearing a mask in a store that didn’t require it....I probably shouldn’t be in that store then. If I was so upset by someone wearing a mask in a store that doesn’t require it....I should probably just stay in my house bc I’m an a$$hole. I just don’t understand why people care what others do or why people put themselves in potentially uncomfortable situations and then get upset.

If your question is genuine I have a theory about that that I am pretty confident about.
Yes, studies and polling show that there is a correlation between being a Trump voter and being anti mask/anti Covid vaccine. That has been established.
It's also been established that there is a mostly inverse relationship between education level and likelihood of being a Trump voter.
LI's education level is higher than average (also a fact.)
One more - this study shows a positive correlation between education level and desire to get the vaccine.
When I put this together, I conclude that Trump voters on LI are more highly educated than the average Trump voter and that's why vaccination rates on LI are higher than usual for a purple area.
Speaking of which, LI is very mixed and there are several different data points so it's hard to say definitively that it is predominantly Repub. Biden won Nassau and Trump Suffolk but by tiny margins. There are also down ballot races to consider, along with party registration. Basically, it's purple like most suburbs are, although some more than others.

Just addressing the Biden mask on Zoom reference.
https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/factcheck/2021/04/26/fact-check-biden-other-world-leaders-wore-mask-climate-summit/7369072002/
The claim: Joe Biden was the only leader wearing a mask at [virtual] climate summit ... Image is misleading The images included in the post are authentic, but they present only a brief moment from the entire event, which had eight sessions that ran from 8 a.m. EDT to midday over the course of two days.
Additionally, the photos single out the screens of 15 to 20 participants, while more than 40 world leaders, 14 Cabinet members, eight CEOs and Pope Francis were in attendance.
Biden also was not alone in a room while wearing his mask, as some of the posts claim. He was joined by Vice President Kamala Harris, national climate adviser Gina McCarthy and White House climate envoy John Kerry, who was also pictured wearing a mask. ... It is also worth noting that Biden did not wear a mask during the entire summit; it was removed when he would address leaders at the event and when he was socially distanced from others.

Once again proves the, your brain gets smart but your head gets dumb.
Why? I have actually read the same thing. If you look at vaccination rates, Blue states have a higher vaccination rate than red states. Poll after poll has said that democrats are far more likely to take the vaccine than Republicans. I'm not commenting on how educated someone is, just speaking about the party lines and the vaccine. It is absolutely true that you are more likely to get the vaccine if you're a Democrat. That's not saying all democrats will get it, or all Republicans won't. It also doesn't mean that all Republicans are trump supporters.

That is 100% Pure Obnoxiousness at its very finest.
God help anyone that approaches me like that. I will absolutely lose my $hit!!!
Just NO FNG WAY!!!

Does it even matter? This is why the division will never end. I am not even either party so I don’t associate with either.
