anyone know someone to call about an injured bird in my yard?
this poor baby bird has been in my yard for 3 days and his wing must be injured bc he tries to fly, gets up about a foot then comes down. I am growing really attached to this little guy who miraculously makes it through each night and I find again the following day. I called the Town and they don't deal with wildlife. I am so sad to think that I have to just wait for nature to take its course

Where do you live? If you can capture the bird you can take it to Sweetbriar Nature Center in Smithtown (if you live anywhere near there).

I went through the same thing once, try your local vets. I called a few offices and one of them said they'd take him so I put him in a box and drove him over. Unfortunately, I don't remember which one and where, it was so long ago!
What you can do for now, from what I remember, is feed it some cat food kibble that's been softened in water. Poor little bird

I live out east and we have an animal rescue number you can call...not sure where you are but figured this might help someone else in the future.

if you can pick him up you can take him to Crawford Animla Hospital in Lynbrook they are really great try Dr. Doolittles love animals and will take the little guy in and fix him up and give him a place to live or release him. Just check online to see what their hours are

Agreed. My friend works there. We talk about rescues and she said often times, the things we perceive as problems really aren't for the animal. Even though we have this empathy and want to help, sometimes it's a completely natural situation and they should be left alone or merely given a safe place to rest like an open box.
What kind of bird is it? Do you have any pics or have you googled it?
