Anyone know what happened on Sunrise Hwy. tonight around exit 52?
We were coming back from my sister's house and saw a HORRIFIC crash on the westbound side. There had to have been at least 20 cop cars/ambulances. From the looks of the two cars involved, I would be surprised if anyone walked away

 so so sad.
I was on sunrise hwy today and I swear to god everyone was driving like maniacs. I was doing 70 in the middle lane and I was being passed on both sides as if I was standing still. I don't ever remember people being that aggressive on that highway as they were today.

Seriously it is scary driving! It seems like 80 is the new 55. The flow of traffic seems so much faster now. When I was younger my parents would max it out in the fast lane at 70 and I remember always yelling at them for speeding LOL Now thats nothing.

A 59-year-old Medford woman was killed and a Brookhaven man injured in a two-car crash Sunday evening on Sunrise Highway's north service road in North Patchogue.
Witnesses said the woman was driving a 2002 Toyota Camry in the parking lot of Gateway Plaza around 6:30 p.m., when the car began speeding across the parking lot and the driver appeared to be slumped over the steering wheel.
The Camry hit a curb, went airborne and landed on a 1997 Chevrolet S-10 pickup truck that was being driven west on the highway's service road.
The man in the pickup, Matthew Wick, 52, was transported to Brookhaven Memorial Hospital Medical Center in East Patchogue and was listed in serious condition, police said.
The driver of the Camry, whom police have not identified, was also taken to Brookhaven Memorial Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
Bother vehicles were impounded for safety checks and the investigation is ongoing.

This is so sad but true. I use Sunrise highway everyday and I witness it. People drive like total animals. Always in a rush. How about leaving your house and giving yourself enough time to get where you need to be. Do your makeup, have your breakfast, drink you coffee, read your newspaper etc. all before you get into your car. It gives me such terrible anxiety to drive with my 7 month old dd in the car when these people are driving like this. The other day I was just getting onto the Oakdale/Bohemia merge and looked in my rear view mirror and saw 2 cars speeding towards me weaving in and out of traffic, racing. The merge gives me enough anxiety and these 2 a-holes have to make it worse. I actually had to move onto the shoulder bc the one truck was coming partly into my lane. Sorry, had to get that off my chest....

Wow! We saw all the cops and ambulances and knew it had to be a fatality because of all the roads being closed off.

We drove past there last night while Xmas shopping. We must have just missed it when we were going the other way. It looked horrible!

 Yeah, we're here to see Danny's sister's new baby. We're only here until tomorrow, so I didn't advertise. Probably won't have a chance to see you this time--although, you're pretty close to Coram, aren't you? That's where my ILs are now. Maybe we can do a quick "drive-by" at some point.

That is awful Sounds like she may have had a heart attack or something to that effect.
