Anyone NOT taking DC's picture with Santa?

I wasn't planning on it because DS is only 6mo old and I don't want to traumatize him and I don't want one of those pictures with the kid screaming on Santa's lap. But all my relatives are like, You're NOT taking his picture with Santa?!?!, but he has to have his picture with Santa!!!

Re: Anyone NOT taking DC's picture with Santa?

last year DS was 8 months old and we did not take him to see santa. it seemed silly since he had no idea what was going on.

this year he seems to know that santa says "hohoho." it would be fun to take him since he has more of a clue now.... BUT (maybe i am paranoid) we are considering not taking him because of all this flu stuff (he can't get the vaccines due to allergies).

i think it's ok if you don't take your DC.... do whatever you feel comfortable doing Chat Icon Chat Icon

We're not. She cries when we go near him in the mall, so it's just not worth it.
But, my husband has a Santa suit so we'll get a few pictures that way....

we don't plan on it. DD is going to scream! we didn't do it last year either. we MAY attempt it if we go to Hick's b/c I don't think there is a fee/use your own camera.

Re: Anyone NOT taking DC's picture with Santa?

Nope, not doing it. The only reason we've done it her 2 first years was b/c Santa came to my work so I brought her in (free Chat Icon )...he's not coming this year, so it's not happening.

Re: Anyone NOT taking DC's picture with Santa?

Nope..I don't care for it. I am taking her to my office party for the kiddies and there will be a Santa on hand and if I know DD well she will not be sitting on Santa's lap...I can see her crying already.

I did it this year because it was his first Christmas, but I'm not sure if I will do it next year.

Except for that one pic when I had the suit on, we've never done a Santa pic for either DC, and DS is 6.5yo.

Re: Anyone NOT taking DC's picture with Santa?

Consider me COMPLETELY off the wall and paranoid, but we are not bc of the swine flu. My DD is a little over 5 months and I don't feel like I need to expose her to all those germs this year esp since the swine flu is everywhere AND she can't be vaccinated!

BUT. We got a santa suit and last weekend by DH dressed up, sat in front of the tree and we did "real" pictures of DC and santa!

I printed them from seehere.com for the free photovard offer and they came out soooo great!

So in our case, santa came to see her. LOL!

This was part of my reasoning. I went to Roosevelt Field and the whole Santa display skeeved me out, looked so germy and run down....lol....Then I saw Santa walking around and DH and I were like "Uh, no thanks." PLus my DD is very shy with strangers so I know she would freak out...or she might go to touch his face and that would freak me out!

Re: Anyone NOT taking DC's picture with Santa?

We took DD last year when she was 8 months and she did great. We tried this year but she screamed as soon as we put her down, so I grabbed her. She is 20 months and more aware this year. So no Santa pic this year, we'll try again next year, no biggie.

I don't think we will be - I don't want to torture him, I know he'd be freaking out screaming!

Plus we don't send out Christmas cards - I'm such a bad mommy! Chat Icon

Re: Anyone NOT taking DC's picture with Santa?

I did last year but she was great -- got right on his lap, smiled, didn't have a care in the world.

This year we tried twice and she just wasn't having it so we're not going to push it. If I did, we wouldn't get a pic of DD crying on Santa's lap. We'd get a pic of DD beating the heck out of Santa while crying and screaming. I don't need that. Chat Icon

I am way to cheap for those prices.

We have run into a few free Santas, he sits on their lap and smiles.

Re: Anyone NOT taking DC's picture with Santa?

We aren't. They don't understand the concept, and I don't want to cause them to freak out for no reason. They aren't really big on new people, it takes them awhile to warm up, and I know they would freak if I put them on santa's lap.

Re: Anyone NOT taking DC's picture with Santa?

Actually 6 months is a great age! We took DS who is nine months this past weekend and he loved it. I would play it by ear and see.

We didn't do one last year since Grace was terrified!

Re: Anyone NOT taking DC's picture with Santa?

I am not because they are way too little. Not sure at what age I will. I remember my brothers and I were terrified of Santa every year. I remember vividly having to pysch myself up to do it.
