My DD is strong willed, stubborn and independent as well. But we REFUSE to put a "leash" on her. Things can happen nowadays, but nothing beats a parent watching their child 150% of the time and teaching your child right and wrong, even if it means cutting my mall trip, shopping trip, exursion short cause my toddler isn't listening nor behaving.
Toddlers test your limits every single minute of the day to see what they can get away with, as a parent it's my job to teach her what's acceptable and what's not at any age.
But that's just me and my big ol opinion on kid's restraints...
To each is own.
while i agree you need to watch your child 150% of the time... i also know what its like to have to watch 3 children 150% of the time. it's not easy.. although i don't use leashes, i am not opposed to them at all.

I don't think using these things makes anyone any less of a parent then someone who doesn't use them.
I teach my babies every day - they are very smart, strong willed, high spirited babies.
I do watch my babies 100% of the time while we are out and about. I do cut my excursions short if someone is throwing a temper tantrum. However, they don't always like to be restricted to the stroller, so I like to give them a feeling of a little freedom while teaching them that they have to be by me at all times, either holding my hand or with the "leash".
I see nothing wrong with it.
I do agree with you, using one doesn't make anyone a less of a parent, nor not using one would make someone a better parent.
you have to do what's best for you and your family and not care what anyone else thinks of your decision.
Just for me personally, I wouldn't use it, and that doesn't make me a better parent, it's just a choice and decision I make for my family.
I didn't mean to offend anyone.

I will use one, if Emma hates the stroller down the line. And it won't be because I don't trust her- it will be because I don't trust others, especially in a setting like a mall.

When my youngest was 2 we went to Disney. We used one. I loved it. He was able to get out and walk and we didn't worry. Otherwise he would have been confined to the stroller which isn't fair. I am one of those mothers who removes their child when they are crying or having a tantrum, but those aren't always the circumstances.

Well after Kevin ran away from me at Belmont Lake State Park to chase the ducks and almost fell into the lake before I could grab him I think I may just have to get one!
How can these kids be so fast!
