Anyone's DC have a milk and egg allergy?
It's looking pretty likely for Andy. I had to take him for blood work today to confirm. We won't find out until next Monday, but I just wanted to get an idea of how difficult this is to manage.
Also, does anyone have any good online resources for finding recipes without milk or eggs?
Thanks so much! Cathy

DS is allergic to milk proteins but not eggs so I can't help you there. I did see a powder egg subsitute in Jandi's in Oceanside. I'm sure Trader Joe's or Whole Foods has something similar. I believe it's made for vegans so there is no milk. Can he have soy?

Re: Anyone's DC have a milk and egg allergy?
We don't know yet. For sure he has a severe milk protein allergy. But his skin around his mouth is very irritated and actually infected so they think it's more than just the milk proteins since he's been on Neocate for over 4 months now and he shouldn't be reacting to anything. The ped said he strongly suspects egg and milk, so I have to make sure he doesn't eat anything this week with either of those in them. I can't believe how much stuff milk is in!

Send a FM to Teri. Her daughter Emily does. She has a wealth of great information.

I just sent you FM
To replace egg in homemade foods, you can use the "Ener G Egg Replacer" (that powdered formula someone else here mentioned)
You can buy it at natural food stores. Otherwise, soymilk is pretty easy to sub in most recipes. Egg is a bit trickier depending on what you're making.

Re: Anyone's DC have a milk and egg allergy?
I just wanted to let you know that even though all children are different...my son was on Neocate since about 8 weeks old until 10 1/2 months old, we successfully transitioned to soymilk and soy products. He definitely still has the milk protein allergy...we tried...but atleast he can have soy now, so have hope! It is crazy what milk is in!!!
