anyone's parents/ILs NOT change DC diapers?

Today was my last straw! Pee is one thing, but to leave your grandchild in POOP got on my last nerve today.

My ILs came over today (with my BIL visiting from NY), so I went grocery shopping so I did not have to take DD out in the cold rainy weather and they could have some alone time with DD. I was gone less than 1 hour....BUT as soon as I get back and walk in the room where they all were, I could smell poop.

You mean to tell me that with 4 people NO ONE smelt it? Do I have such a specially Mommy Nose, that I can smell it, before I even pick her up??? (DH was obviously not home). So I pick her up and walk out of the room and said nothing to no one and changed her.

They complain that they don't get to see her enough, but when they do, they can't care for her?

This is NOT the 1st time that if they are watching her so DH & I can do stuff around the house, they come get us if she needs to be changed. Or the few times they watched her for a couple hours, we come home to pee filled diapers.

Am I wrong in being mad?

that is ridiculous! i would definitely say something... or have DH say something. not only is is LAZY, it is bad for a baby to sit in a dirty diaper!

At first, when I read the title, I thought you meant if you were all together - I wouldn't expect them to change them if you're there....
But if they are watching your child, and the child has a dirty diaper - it's 100% their responsibility to change the baby! How selfish to leave a child in a dirty diaper!
I would be really annoyed...and I would say something next time they are around.

My ILs used to watch Kaydyn every day before DH lost his job. I realized very quickly that my ILs could not smell when she had a dirty diaper unless they were holding her. They were very good about changing her....but there were a few times that I showed up after work and she had a dirty diaper.

My FIL also isn't comfortable changing Kaydyn. In the past year he's only changed about 3 diapers. Which is fine with me as long as someone is changing her.

Maybe if you are going to be leaving her with them for any amount of time ask them specifically to change her. Even if you have to tell them she has sensitive skin and has to be changed every hour...so you know she's not going to be sitting in anything for very long.

That is why today it's really bothering me!
I change my DD within 1 minute of her pooping, cause I can tell in a sec when she is. The smell.....you can't miss, we don't call her stinky butt for nothing

I feel like the next time they are over and they want to use my bathroom saying.....nope, it's broken hold it in!

merri221, I know what you are saying. But with 4 people in her playroom, someone had to smell it. Plus when they are with her (I am not joking) they are on top of her playing with her.

I know my FIL does not feel comfortable doing it, but my MIL is capable, yet doesn't!

Thanks for letting me vent....my DH comes home soon, so I need to get it out so I don't explode on him!

FIL never changed one single diaper of DH or SIL so I would not in the least expect him to change our LO! I hope they do no in the least expect me to ever leave my child alone with them!

I would be upset. I can expect my stepfather or my fil to change a diaper. My father on the other hand never. He doesn't even know how to hold dc let alone change one of them.

That is ridiculous! I would say something. Plus, it is unhealthy for your little baby girl to be sitting in poop, especially if she doesn't have to be!

I fond it hard to beleive that they would leave he rin poop honestly! It is possible that she had just done it right?

i would be extremely PO'd


when my MIL used to watch DS she would change him once during the day and it was an eight hour period!!!! I would get soooo pi***ed... the reason that i know is b/c i count how many diapers i gave her and what i came home with so i told DH and he was LIVID to say the least!!!!!!!

as soon as i see my DS go he gets changed b/c i dont want him to get a diaper rash and to sit in it!!!!! not to mention it smellls so i can never understand how people dont smell it

eta: I told DH that if he didnt take care of it and DS came home one more time with it being changed once during the day that MIL would NEVER watch him again or SEE him again !!!!!!

Next time this happens ask your MIL if she changed DD's diaper already and if she says no then just tell her to please do so as soon as she smells it because her skin is senstive. I know when I change DD the sent lingers for a few minutes.

I'd be furious and god knows you're so much more nicer about this than I'd be.

Honesty.. if you cant care for my child, I cant trust you. Leaving poop and piss in her diaper is like not feeding her all day. This is all about her health.

Sorry but I'd put a end to this.. even if it meant no more alone time. Then again, I have no help from the grandparent so cutting them off for me is easy .

Been there and with other people too. I don't get it. Andrew got a really bad diaper rash one time because of it

That is terrible. My FIL has yet to change one diaper in his entire life...and that's with 3 kids of his own. It's like...grow the f*ck up.
