Appetizer
I'm having a happy hour with neighbors. It's 4 families including us. What should I make? So far I was thinking Assorted cheeses, meats, crackers and Shrimp cocktail. What else? How many things? I know one person said she would bring an app but not sure if/what anyone else is bringing.

Spinach and cheese pinwheels are always a huge hit as an app. I actually got the recipe from the back of a puff pastry box. You can really add any ingredients you want but def use puff pastry. Sooo much better than using cresent rolls!

spinach and artickoke dip, yum! Swedish meatballs, veggie platter, pigs n blanket, mini quiches. Are kids going to be there as well? I would do chicken nuggets or something too.

Re: Appetizer
I def agree about spinach dip. Pigs in a blanket, veggie platter and mini meatballs. I also love to get a sicilian or grandma pie and cut it up into little squares. Can't get much easier than that!

Re: Appetizer
I agree with the suggestion of having at least one dip -- I like the spinach dip recipe off the back of the Knorr packet served in a bread bowl with bread cubes, crackers, veggies.
A hot dip would also be good... warm spinach/artichoke dip.
I would also do a hearty, meat based app -- like the grape jelly meatballs (throw mini meatballs in a crockpot with grape jelly and chili sauce) or pigs in blankets or something like that.
If you are trying to be more elegant, I make things like baked clams, brie bites, stuffed mushrooms, homemade cheese puffs, spinach balls.
If you want to be easy, I like Trader Joe's flatbreads cut up (they have a margarita pizza one, a mushroom one, etc.) and I like their feta and carmelized onion appetizer.

Re: Appetizer
Thanks everyone!
I was thinking of a warm spinach dip. My husband wants meatballs and I wasn't going to do them but maybe I will. Maybe I will do spinach balls too. I was planning on making them for thanksgiving so I can make them in advance and keep half frozen for thanksgiving. Oh, and nuggets for the kids for sure!

The cold spinach dip is great also (Knorr recipe).
