And this is why I can’t believe anything, the story was fake so she could have a day off as she has no time left and she threw her husband under the bus and he has no clue what she was talking about when they confronted him at his job at the Mattituck district, another school that put out a letter yesterday.
OMG are you KIDDING me?
Nope, has been all over the internet this morning how it was fake.
That's a false rumor.
It was someone on the security staff who was possibly exposed.
From their spouse who doesn't have it, correct? There is only 1 person (as far as I know of right now) in Suffolk who has been confirmed so that person would have had to be that persons husband.
There are numerous people who have potentially been exposed. It was a potential exposure, not a potential positive.
The same is going on in my children's school district. There was a potential exposure of a staff member.
There is only 1 confirmed person in Suffolk and 5 in Nassau right now, but there are likely many more. Testing is very limited still.
This is very annoying because yesterday morning they said on the news that if a household member is quarantined due to an exposure that the entire household is NOT on quarantine, only that person with the direct exposure.

Are you changing your plans and routines because of coronavirus?
All catholic schools in Queens have cancelled parent teacher conferences, initially scheduled for next week, as per the Diocese.

Many colleges closed (moved classes to online)-Princeton, Fordham, St. John’s, NYU, Columbia, Manhattan College...the list goes on and on and more are adding daily. I think there is something to be said for precaution and not having large groups of people unnecessarily in one location.

So if Universities are doing it why aren't school districts doing it?

My guess is because it’s much less disruptive to have adult college students change to online classes than to have a bunch of families left without childcare and children to miss out on education since most schools don’t have the ability to just switch over to online classes.

Re: Are you changing your plans and routines because of coronavirus?
My son goes to University of New Haven and school closed on Monday. They have spring break next week and as of now not due to go back until March25th.
I don't believe any student had contacted the virus, but was in close proximity to someone who had it off campus.
POB school district closed down for a few days, not sure for how long.

Re: Are you changing your plans and routines because of coronavirus?
Well. It’s not just toilet paper & Lysol flying off the shelves. People seem to think saline is another necessary item.
I had an emergent situation and needed gauze and saline for wound packing and had to go to 3 stores. Finally stop and shop had some. Pharmacies were completely wiped out.
Wtf is saline gonna do?
Here’s a question for you guys ... if you needed to go to ER or urgent care for something right now, would you go or hesitate ? I wanted to bring my DH to ER but he refused and had me call his dr (he’s healing from a colon resection. Had his staples removed today and half the wound opened up - I almost passed out from the sight) the NP said it’s not that uncommon and to just wet/dry pack the wound. I still wanted to bring him to the ER or urgent care and he refused because they will be packed with tons of sick people (corona or not)
So if you thought you should go to urgent care or ER, would you also feel weary and try to wait it out to see your own dr.? I wonder if the ERs are smart enough to have separate sections for different things

I would keep an eye for now and if it gets worse call the dr and see what they recommend. 8 wouldn’t want to be anywhere near a dr office or hospital.

For your example I would. I understand not wanting to be anywhere near a hospital but that’s an open wound. I’d be too scared of infection. Monitor it closely and I hope he heals soon.

Do you possibly have a friend/relative who is a nurse?

Re: Are you changing your plans and routines because of coronavirus?
I think the time stamp of LIF has the coronavirus.
My sons school is closed Friday for a deep cleaning. They had a half day anyway and decided to change it to school closing.
If they move to remote and I have to homeschool him, i will runaway.

I also saw something online a while back about a physician's assistant who does house calls. Something like that might be a good option.

I am in a quiet state of stress. Wth am I going to do with 3 kids home for 2 weeks?. I better start planning a project.
It's not a rumor. We are potentially looking at a shutdown (Island Wide) for at least 2 weeks. I'm dizzy just thinking about it. There's so much going on.

I’m right there with you. I can work from home easily and think yesterday was my last day in the office. But I’m stressed on how long this will go on and the constant unknown disruption. We’ve already canceled vacations, plans, parties, etc. I have elderly relatives who are still living their life and I’m scared. This is not something any of us have dealt with. I’m also super worried about this economy and my company.

I can tell you for sure the Stony Brook ER has separate areas for suspected corona cases. I think it's even in a separate building

Are you changing your plans and routines because of coronavirus?
Dh works for a hospital system. They had a town hall meeting last night and said things are bad, going to get worse and there will definitely be more closures- possibly NYC schools. But, the media hype is unreal. Example-- reports that all CUNY/SUNY schools are closing for a week and the the rest of the semester will be online classes. Spring break was schedule to start today- that's why they are closed! I am nervous just because my husband has to walk into a hospital every single day (after taking the LIRR and subway) and then come back home- I have an underlying heart condition. I'm not normally one who panics, but I"m getting nervous now.

Re: Are you changing your plans and routines because of coronavirus?
Just an update. We are at his surgeons office now. I was going to call a friend who’s a nurse but then thought she’s been in a hospital everyday seeing all types of people - so wasn’t sure. It’s all too friggin much at this point
Figuring the surgeon is in surgery and not specifically seeing “sick” patients.
I’m not terribly concerned of getting it. It’s just while he’s healing from major surgery and still has an open wound now, his body needs the strength to heal and not be run down trying to fight this virus too. Plus coughing with an abdominal incision? Not cool.
Trying to avoid this for at least another week. Then if we get it, we will just stay away from his parents

Re: Are you changing your plans and routines because of coronavirus?
I think its inevitable that schools will close. Just a matter of when. The only thing I'm concerned about is work, if schools are closed.... I can see if they can let me work from home but video conferencing will be hard, though most of what I do can be done via email...
