what precautions have your jobs taken? I work in midtown and my company really hasn't done much. They have asked if you are sick with a cold do not come in and wfh. Today because almost 1/2 the office is either out with colds or wfh, we just had a mini meeting and they expect us to be at work as long as we feel healthy. They said we can work off hours or if we feel the need to wfh we can but in general they expect us in the office. I'm not sure how I feel about that. Isn't better to have your employees healthy and wfh if possible??
None. They said people can wfh if they generally have access- but admins and others who don't have access, aren't going to get access and if we have to stay home- to self quarantine or because our kids have their schools closed, it will come out of our vacation time.

Nothing. I am considered “essential personnel” I am required to make random visits to strangers homes. We don’t have the same protection as the police and EMS workers. Today the director of the agency put out an email with days old info. We have not been told anything other than hand washing etc. I hope they don’t give us a hard time about taking extended time off my kids schools close

Not much. They did install 3 hand sanitizer stations in the building, and there is talk of having the cleaning person come in more than the current 1x a month. Otherwise, business as usual. We have no WFH capabilities. Almost every job there could be done exclusively remotely, including me dept. but they have no interest in doing that. I work in 1985, lol!

Please WFH. Those with colds likely have it. This is why it’s spreading so quickly. The numbers reported mean nothing since they are not testing adequately.
We need to flatten the curve. Seattle is a mess and no the numbers don’t show it because they don’t have enough tests. Or masks.

Our economy is slowly dying .,, those who are already struggling and poor will never rebound from this. Kids who need services and struggling will fail or not go back to school.

Much much more scary than a virus that is mild in a large large majority of the population.

Our economy is slowly dying .,, those who are already struggling and poor will never rebound from this. Kids who need services and struggling will fail or not go back to school. nj is shutting down school indefinitely, but they are all making on line provisions for everyone. Article said it is giving free internet for low income populations through the schools. There was a mandate to have chrome books in nj schools. They are also setting up mobile food centers, so I think different states are handling things differently and I would not assume that kids won’t go back to school. In nj, no evictions are now allowed, and water, gas, and electric are not going to be shut off. You need to get your officials to do this for NY too.

The lasting economic aspect of this is terrifying to me

I am in NJ but worried about Ny because that’s is where I grew up. Tbh my son goes to private school and was finally going to get the services he needed. That appointment will be canceled and will probably ruin his chances for high school. But I feel for all those in dire constraints.
This is a double edged sword that will help with killing the economy:

But I also don’t know what the solution is

Nassau county said no evictions too. Do not know about utilities.

Re: Are you changing your plans and routines because of coronavirus?
Not going to quote but I agree I am most nervous about the economic effects this going to have. My DH and I both do not get paid if we don’t work. I fortunately work from home but I am contractor right now (I lost my job of 14 years at the end of 2018 due to cuts). I fear I will be the first to let go if they start making cuts.
DH works for an alarm company he is freaking out having to go into peoples homes but I have a feeling that they are going to make him stay home or even lay him off which means no pay!!
I feel for my daughters tumbling coach I am sure she is Hurting !! And everyone else who will not be getting paid.
I just hope the economy can bounce back and at a quick rate!
