Are you getting a glider/rocker for the Nursery?

Which one?
Suggestions? Rants? Raves? Bring it on !!

DH really wants one - I'm indifferent.
So, we're getting one - but I'd like something that can
1. Be used in another room of the house later on
2. Not fall apart in a year afteri I spend $800 !!

TIA !!

Re: Are you getting a glider/rocker for the Nursery?

We have a loveseat in the nursery-- which we are just keeping in there-- so no. If I was planning an entire room from scratch, I would probably consider getting something specifically fir the nursery.

After taking my breast feeding class, I decided to get an arm chair for the living room. We do not have one chair with arms in my apt-- and felt like I needed one, just to have a comfortable seat with arms to breastfeed so I can be more comfortable. We just got a leather club chair-- found something inexpensive online.

I am definitely getting one. I had one 7 years ago with my first and I lived in it!!! I was so comfy and with the ottoman, it was really great to put my feet up.... I used it a lot even before the baby was born.

Re: Are you getting a glider/rocker for the Nursery?

i didn't want to spend the $$ on one (i really thought they were overrated) but i knew i would need something to nurse DS in, so i got a small rocking chair for the nursery instead.

well by 5 weeks i KNEW i had made the wrong decision.

i got an inexpensive glider and ottoman from BRU ($200 for both) and i am SOOO glad i did! i have a tiny nursery and it still fits well. plus it is incredibly comfortable and large enough that it accomodates my boppy pillow too.

i strongly recommend getting one - my girlfriend still uses hers to rock her 18-month-old to sleep!

Re: Are you getting a glider/rocker for the Nursery?

Anyone know where we can find a decent one?
I'd like to just get a big comfy leather rocker ........but I can't really find anything that seems really comfortable -

And those gliders in BBB and BRU, don't seem 'oh so comfy' either ........Chat Icon

Re: Are you getting a glider/rocker for the Nursery?

we just got new living room furniture so we already have an arm chair for feeding downstairs and plan on getting a rocker for our bedroom.its chocolate and the same fabric as our lving room couch so it will serve a purpose even after they get older.....it won't fit in their bedroom right now so eventually when we move it will go into their room..its SOO comfy..i will try and find the brand for you...its not cheap but not over the top either.....

The upholstered recliner we bought was the #2 best purchase I ever made for my DD.

You have absolutely NO idea how many nights/days/hours you'll spend in that thing if you plan on BFing.

I bought mine at a local baby store - it's made by best chairs.

What was the #1 best purchase??

To answer the OP - yes we are getting one. We are very fortunate that it will be a gift from a close family friend.

I plan on getting one. It will either go in the nursery or living room. I haven't decided yet.

I think this is the one I'm going to be getting. Everyone other one I've seen that I've liked is like $500 and doesn't include the ottoman.

Re: Are you getting a glider/rocker for the Nursery?

We actually had one with my first DD but have decided to upgrade. We spent many a sleepless night rocking her in that chair with colic and it just wasn't comfy. My advice is if you do get one make sure it's super comfy. Our first was a glider but not a nursery glider...I think that makes a big difference. So we got a new one that I love. We got the one seat sofa style this time.

we just got this one from Amazon.com, price was good and it was free shipping.

It's very comfy and is a rocker/recliner.

I think they call it the Chicago Chair company recliner

eta: this is for my living room, not the nursery

I wasn't going to get one, but I decided to. I said on the ones that look like chairs not rockers, and they are so comfortable. BRU is also having a sale this weekend if you buy both the glider and ottaman its 50% off.

Re: Are you getting a glider/rocker for the Nursery?

I really didnt think it was necessary to have one. Didnt ask for one or anything.

Then I got one as a gift...I LOVE IT! it is amazing.

When BF I could sit there easily and get a good position with DS.

On nights where DS wont sleep, we would sit and rock for what seemed like forever.

DS is not a baby that just falls asleep on his own so each night we sit there and within 5 minutes of rocking I am looking at the most peaceful face as he sleeps in my arms until I put him in his crib.

Now when I put him to sleep, he and I sit in the rocker and I read a story, when he is tired he curls into my chest and closes his eyes!

I dont know how I would live wihtout my glider now after 1 year of being a mommy!
