Are you getting DC Swine flu vaccine?
I know this was asked a million times.. But initially I was totally against it..now ped is recommending it and I know a lot of people are getting it for their kids. Also, my ped only has the shot with preservative..but still recommends it. I'm torn..

Nope . And honestly I haven't even called the pediatrician about it, not that it'll make any difference and change my mind .

So far I doubt it but I am torn. He did have a seasonal flu shot. I am not necessarily against vaccines but I am likely to forego the swine flu shot. It's so difficult to decide.

Yes, I am bringing DS to get his on Monday. I am 35 weeks pregnant and got my shot last week also.

I was unsure at first, but now I am pretty sure she will get it. My doc's office had 14 confirmed cases yesterday alone, and my sister is a pharmacist and said she has written out more prescriptions for Tamiflu this year than she did in all of flu season last year. Not worth my baby getting sick and I haven't heard of any side effects yet.

I am actually going to get the mist for DS on Monday. His ped does not know when they will get the shot for his age group.
I went back and forth on whether or not to get the mist because it has a part of live virus in it, but did a lot of research on it today. Apparently, they take out the part of the virus that causes the actual full blown flu. Plus, I trust my ped and know that she wouldn't be giving this to the kids if she didn't feel confident and safe with it.
I just didn't want to wait any longer for "if" I can find the shot for DS. He is in daycare, surrounded by germs. He is also teething on his 2 year molars, so EVERYTHING has been going in his mouth. I want him to be protected as soon as possible.

This was a really hard decision for me and I was up for days crying about it... but in the end I decided to get it for DS he is 3 and pretty big so I thought he could handle it . I was against the nasal one though the whole live virus thing and side effects for certain people... like it can't be given to pregnant people... well if it is that dangerous for certain people why and I giving it to my small child? plus I figured if I actually was going to bite the bullet and do it I wanted effective and who is to say my 3 year old would inhale properly, not sneeze or blow out... something to affect the absorption in the nose... so we did shot. On another note I was going to get it myself since DS has had confirmed cases in his school but I am 6 mo pregnant and could not bear the thought of a 2lb baby with no immune system getting this vaccine that is still being tested-there will be no studies on fetuses for quite some time so I figured I am a healthy adult if I get it the likely hood I will die is much more slim than the possibility of them finding out this shot causes neurological defects... in a fetus so I am taking my chances on being sick for a few miserable weeks as opposed to a lifetime of possible problems for my unborn baby. This is just me and my personal opinion I have no opinion on what others choose to do I think is is a rough decision no matter who has to make it and I wish everyone comfort in their choices and a healthy flu season-lol!
