Re: Are you going into this experience with a drug free delivery on your mind?

You are all so right that every labor is different and you just don't know how you are going to feel or what it is going to be like. For me, I went in being petrified of the epi needle but also knowing that the majority of people I knew with kids had all gotten drugs and been fine. However, I took the attitude of wait and see and thought if I could get through without drugs, it would be great to not expose my child to them if not necessary.

Long story short, I did not take any birthing classes, but my L&D nurses were unbelievable. They let me walk around and labor in different positions and when the anesthesiologist came in at 4cm, he said, "you're not going to need me" as I was breathing through contractions. I wound up going totally natural and the worst part for me was the pushing.

I won't lie, the pain was intense and I am a bit scared to have to do it again. However, I will try and if it gets too intense, I will have the epi. You just can't predict whats going to happen and the most importnat part is that all of our babies are healthy and we will get them in our arms one way or another!
