Are you planning to stay in your current house forever?
FH and I just bought our house back in December.. I am kind of already thinking buying a bigger house. Our (mine really ) plan is to be in a bigger house, and hopefully our forever house, by the time we have our first baby, which isn't for another few years, before we are 30.
I love my current house, mainly because it's our first house, and I love the town... but I think with children, I would like more room.
We currently have 4 beds, 2 baths.

Re: Are you planning to stay in your current house forever?
We never planned on staying here more than 5 years. It has been 2 and we will probably move in another 2. This was a starter house for us. We have 4 bedrooms and 2 baths also, but one is a laundry room and one is an office, so we really only have two bedrooms that we can use right now. It's not big enough.

Re: Are you planning to stay in your current house forever?
We just moved into our house in February, and we plan to be here a while. It's 4000 sq/ft which is plenty big, although someday I wouldn't mind something bigger . But that won't be happening until maybe we have kids that are teenagers.

Re: Are you planning to stay in your current house forever?
Well, my ideal would be 4 beds, 2 full baths. We have 3 bedrooms and a bath and a half. I'd like a house with a dining room; a lot depends on the market and our own finances. I don't want to live to pay a mortgage. I grew up in a small house and had a pretty happy upbringing, so I don't want to be unrealistic. If we are here forever that's ok- it's more than other people have.

Probably yes. At least until we retire (if we will ever be able to do that-lol!).

Re: Are you planning to stay in your current house forever?
this is definitely our starter home. It's fine for now, but we'll definitely outgrow it in about 5-6 yrs.
We always planned on this though - we couldn't have afforded the house we want to live in forever and we really couldn't even decide WHERE we'd want to settle down for the future. So we will plan to move one more time and then that'll be it for a while

Re: Are you planning to stay in your current house forever?
Its funny, when we bought our house we said we would live in it for 5 years, sell and move and start a family.
Well, almost 6 years later, 2 kids and no money, we are staying put for a little while longer.
While I love the town and general area, I hope to be able to move to a house with a better lay-out (I hate my hi-ranch style), and to a more quiet street. Same area though. We just cna't afford to buy in our area now though.

No, this is our permanent home.
We already had the starter home previous to this.
Next time boxes are moved oout of this house, I'll be in one of them.

We are moving from our starter home and buying our 30 year house... This is definitely where we are going to raise our children and live our lives...

Re: Are you planning to stay in your current house forever?
Our home isn't really considered a starter home even though it's on the small side (2000 sq ft, 3br/2ba). Most people move into this neighborhood w/the intentions of raising their family here. We're still the youngest and only ones w/o children.
Although our home is smaller than we would like it to be, we bought the house for it's resale value should we decide or have to move at some point. But odds are we'll stay here and just put on a large addition (2nd story and an addition towards the front of the house.) Many of our neighbors are doing additions or just leveling their home completely and rebuilding b/c it's a prime location.
Chances are we'll never really find a home w/the things we want (unless it's custom), so we're better off just doing renovations to our current home to make it the way we want it.

Re: Are you planning to stay in your current house forever?
yes, we will stay here forever. Our house is very large for this area, we could even make it much bigger. Even if I won the mega millions I'd stay here. I'd like to buy all of the homes around my property to make it larger, but I won't leave. We love our neighborhood & lake too much.

Re: Are you planning to stay in your current house forever?
I love our house and our area- it might be tight if we ever have two children down the line- but we are planning on making the attic into another big bedroom- but we don't have a real family room which is the only thing i would change about our house....not sure- we are going to stay for a while though!!

Re: Are you planning to stay in your current house forever?
I thought when we bought our house 2 years ago we would be here for the long run. But as time went by we discovered some things we don't like. We have an older house and it only has one bathroom. We would like to get a newer construction model in a development and have a pool in the yard. Also, I want more of an open plan.

Re: Are you planning to stay in your current house forever?
We'd have to expand or move. Our home is fine for the two of us, will be ok with an infant, but will require expansion for a toddler. When the time comes, we'll price the cost of expanding vs. buying the space we want in our current neighborhood, which we love.

Re: Are you planning to stay in your current house forever?
No...we won't be here forver. We just put in a lot of $$$$ and did dormers to our house (cape cod). We hope to get this money back when we sell...hopefully within the next 2 years.

When we bought it we thought we'd only be here a few years, but we've done so much work to it, and we really like the neighborhood, so we were just talking yesterday about staying longer.

when we actually find our home... it will be where we stay until retirement or longer
eta...for us and the way the market is probably going to be...a second house isn't likely

Re: Are you planning to stay in your current house forever?
We thought we would stay here forever but now I think we will be moving in a few years. I would rather find a new house than to do construction to make it the way I want. I also would love to be on teh water next if possible.

Re: Are you planning to stay in your current house forever?
Even though we are not in the house yet, I would have to say yes. The house has everything we would need although it's small. In the future we would definitely be able to renovate if needed.

Re: Are you planning to stay in your current house forever?
Yes and no.
I hate moving and since DH is a pack rat I loathe the idea of packing and moving.
But alas, we will probably not stay in this house.
Would love to get a house a town over in Old Bethpage-but $$$$$$!

Re: Are you planning to stay in your current house forever?
We will out grow our house as soon as Danielle has two children. We figure in 5 years or so we will sell and move into a split or center hall colonial. Something with 2 bathrooms, a finished basement, 1.5 plus car garage, dining room, eat in kitchen, and fire place Scott

Re: Are you planning to stay in your current house forever?
We had our house custom built so we are here to stay. I planned it so that we can expand the upstairs if we want more room, so that we won't outgrow this one.

Re: Are you planning to stay in your current house forever?
I love the neighborhood our house is in but we will eventually need to buy a bigger home or add on. We have one of the smallest floorplans, so hopefully we'll be able find a larger home in the same community when we do need to move.

Re: Are you planning to stay in your current house forever?
Forever. After the experience of selling and buying, I never want to do that again until we are buying our retirement home. We bought a house that we could expand a bit and are already talking about doing the construction sooner than we had planned.
