Next time boxes are moved oout of this house, I'll be in one of them.
I am LMAO at this statement because my DH says the same thing!!
I love our house and the neighborhood and have NO plans of moving! In 5 years we night add on to the house giving us more room but for now its perfect for us!!

We are currently selling our starter home and have just bought our permanent home where we will raise our kids. We plan on doing some expanding to make it perfect

We have no plans to stay in this house forever. However, we have no plan as to when we'll move either.

We're going to do the same thing probably in another year or so. We bought our house almost 5 years ago knowing it was a starter. Since then the value of homes in our area have almost doubled from when we first bought - so we're hoping to sell our current home for a much bigger house where we will then stay permanently to raise our family. Our house is a 3 bedroom 1 bathroom ranch, so we're hoping to do a decent upgrade to a bi level home with another bedroom and bathroom, a basement, and a garage too. We're so settled now though, I can't even begin to think about going through the selling/moving process all over again!

We plan on moving to a bigger house in the same location (on the other side of the lake) in a few years or staying here and expanding our current house.

Re: Are you planning to stay in your current house forever?
We love our area and although we wish our house had some extras, we'll probably just stay put. We have so much property that we are always talking about expanding. Right now it's all we can afford, but we LOVE our house.

No we will move. We want a bigger house and features that this house does not have.
I have casually looked recently, but haven't found anything. We will probably get serious next year.

This is definitely not where I want to be forever. We only plan to be here for another 3-4 yrs. We plan to move before Nate starts grade school.

Re: Are you planning to stay in your current house forever?
I have to revive this thread.
We DON'T plan on staying in our house forever... I'd like to move in the next 1-2 years.
ETA: My house is TOO small - 4 br's BUT they have knee-walls, and the rooms are tiny. We don't have any storage space - no basement, and no attic; only one bathroom.
Do you plan on staying in your home, if no - why not?

Re: Are you planning to stay in your current house forever?
We bought our home with the plan in mind that we CAN stay forever if we choose. It has plenty of space if we have one or two kids and stay.

Re: Are you planning to stay in your current house forever?
My DH & I plan on staying where we are unless circumstances make us move. When we purchased our home back in August 2005, we did not buy your typical "starter" home. It is a 4 bedroom, 2.5 bathroom splanch with plenty of room for 3 kids & still have my DH's office. Right now, we both love the layout of our house & truly know this is the house for us. We have both said we could see living in this house for our lifetime. Our home was completely rennovated right before we bought it & we did so much work to the grounds to make the house ours!
With that said, we have agreed that eventually we may have to move because of the taxes on LI. Before purchasing where we did, we did look OOT. But it is not in our 10 year plan! So for at least the next 10 years, we will be here!!!

Re: Are you planning to stay in your current house forever?
We just recently bought our house but I can't see moving any time soon. We can stay here for the rest of our lives and we would like to. There are a lot of pluses to our house. It is a great area. It is a ranch which means that we could expand up if necessary. But we have 3 BR, 2 BA a finished basement and a great room and a good sized yard. Personally, I don't need a ton of space and we don't plan on having a lot of children. So I think we are ok here for a long time. Besides the previous owners did updates that we like in the major areas like kitchen and bathrooms.

Re: Are you planning to stay in your current house forever?
We'll be looking for our "forever house" shortly. We don't plan on having a family so the need to trade up is much reduced.
But because we will be in this house until we retire, we're taking our sweet time and doing it right. Some of the sticklers for us are things that other people would expect in a second home.
I have a feeling we have a long house hunt ahead of us as a result. But that's ok. Because the longer we wait, the more money we save, the better the house we can afford.

Re: Are you planning to stay in your current house forever?
I'm in a one bedroom condo so we are definintely not staying forever.
However -- at this point we are torn between going for a "forever" house or going for a "right now, good for 5-10 years" house (does that make sense?).
Knowing how my family have all stayed in their "starter" houses I'm more cautious about buying something I can't see myself in for the long term (at least with renovations).

Re: Are you planning to stay in your current house forever?
We said we would do the typical 5 years and we only moved in 4 months ago but we are in love with the neigborhood and the house and as of now can't think of moving but in 5 years we will probably look for something on the water as opposed to now 1 block away from the water. We'll see!!

Re: Are you planning to stay in your current house forever?
Although my husband would like to stay here, I, of course would eventually like to upgrade. Mind you we moved in last month!! I love our house and it's not a starter, I am just one of those really annoying people who are never satisfied. My plan is to stay here for about 10 years and then move to a nicer area. But who knows what the future will bring. We could stay here forever.

Re: Are you planning to stay in your current house forever?
I guess we'll see what life brings us. I love our building and DH would prefer to stay in the city forever, but eventually I would like to buy something outside of the city as well to be closer to skiing or the beach.

Re: Are you planning to stay in your current house forever?
1 year later from my other post. If Danielle and I stay in our house we would have to put a full dormer on top to be able to have enough room, and also expand back too. Our taxes will probably be ridiculous after, and if we dont expand back and just build up we will not increase our living space, only be able to add more bedrooms and bathrooms. I dont think it is worth it.
If we buy another house, we would like to be in Bellmore, N Bellmore, South Bellmore or Wantagh. 4 Bedrooms at least, 2 bathrooms at least, a finished basement, garage, and I would love a fireplace. The house would also need a big yard. We have one now and love it. Scott

Re: Are you planning to stay in your current house forever?
Right now, our home is a nice starter home. It has the potenital though to become a forever home.
We bought the house with the intentions of staying there forever. It's on a great street with a great yard in a great school district and there are plenty of ways we can expand the house as our family starts to grow. We are one of the only houses in the neighborhood that hasn't been added onto or re-dormered so we know we have plenty of options!

We moved into our home in February and we love our neighborhood and the size house.
We don't plan on moving again until retirement if we can help it.
We do have plans to expand te house, but we'll take each step one at a time.
