I do it all the time. I even let him stand in there! I guess I'm a wacky mom Chat Icon

I'm sorry, but maybe I'm misunderstanding this...you let him STAND in the main portion of the cart? Like, where you'd put the groceries?

I could maybe see letting your DC (or mine) sit in the main part of the cart, but stand??? All it takes is for someone to accidentally run into you (or having to make a quick turn) at the end of an aisle for your kid to tumble out onto the floor! Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

It happens a lot...All it takes is a split second. I have taken my fair share of toddlers to the trauma unit when I was an EMT. They usually fall out head first and land on their heads..Too much can happen. Besides concussions, there is brain damage, neck injuries, spinal injuries...If someone bumps into your cart they can knock your child right out.. It is scary..

I can imagine!! Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon I mean...I try not to judge others for the way that they parent, because we are all different, but I'll totally admit...it drives me NUTS when I see parents actually ALLOWING kids to stand in a moving shopping cart! Do you let your kids ride in the car without a seat belt? Because this seems even worse to me...

As the PP said, all it takes is a second for something awful to happen, and it's 100% preventable. I don't know...I guess to me, this falls under the same category as telling your DC not to touch the stove because it's hot. Yes, you can sit in the big part of the cart, but you MUST sit at all times. Why would you allow your child to stand? JMO...but I don't get it...
