At what age did you put your DC in a car booster seat?

and what kind?

My DD is 3 and she's in a Britax Marathon. She's 38 inches and 38 lbs. I'm not in any rush to move her since she's not complaining and I believe the weight on the Marathon is well over her weight. But her head is over the top of the seat - is that bad? Why am I thinking that?

DS is 4 and he's still in his Britax Blvd in my car and the Graco Nautilous in DH's car.

The Britax has a 65 pound weight limit so I'll keep him in there until he reaches that weight. He's about 50 pounds now. It's best to keep them in a 5 point harness as long as possible.

Not sure about the head going over the top though. That would make me nervous. On the Blvd, they have a head piece that you can make higher so we've done that.

As long as her ears are below the top of the seat, then she is fine.

I moved my oldest son when he turned 5. My middle one I moved at 4 1/2 because his ears were over the top of his seat.

It says in the manual for my Britax that she can be in the seat up to a certain weight (I forget but I know we aren't close yet) or when the tops of her ears reach the top of the seat.

My long and lean little lady will certainly reach the height before the weight.

Sabrina is 3 years old, 39 inches and 39 lbs and I have her in the Marathon and she seems to love it so I haven't moved her yet.

My mom, on the other hand, has the Britax Roundabout for DD and I think I need to drag her to the store and get something bigger or maybe just get a booster.

Try to avoid a booster as long as possible. 5 point harness are the safest. This story broke my heart, and help solidify my feeling on them:

I moved DD into a Graco booster seat at a little over 4 years old, but she's big for her age. She's over 40lbs & she's tall. I had to get new carseats anyway because I had been hit in a car accident. I went for the booster since she was over the minimum requirements for it.

DD is 4 - 37 lbs and 42 inches and still in the marathon and will be until she is 16!!!I think they have 5 point harness boosters now though so that will be her next option I guess.

DS was nearly 5 and still in his Marathon. I finally moved him last year at this time to a Grace TurboBooster Safeseat (seatbelt high back booster).

DD is going to be 4 and I am keeping her in her Marathon until next year at least.

If I can give you any advice it's to get a Graco Nautilus 3 in 1. I moved my DD at 3 and gave her Boulevard to her brother. It's an amazing "booster" that lets you keep them in a 5 point harness much longer

I have DD in a Graco Nautilus. She will be 4 in June. She is approx 42 in 38 lbs. The Nautilus is good til 65 lbs in a 5pt harness so I will keep the seat like that and not transition it to a booster until then.

She was in an Evenflo triumph and even though she was fine pounds wise, her head was at the top of the seat. thats when I upgraded to the Nautilus...knowing that it converted to a backed booster and a backless booster and it would be the last seat I buy.

Im trying to convince ex DH to buy one for his truck now.

We switched DS on his 6th b-day.

In my truck, I have a full-back Simpson (the racing car accessory company) seat. In the car, we just have the backless booster, since there are headrests in the car, but not in the back of the truck.
