I think it really depends on the maturity level of the child.
I think I'm the minority here but I would say at least 16.
I agree with this, but honestly I don't know that we will let SD have an account until she has graduated from high school...I've heard terrible stories about online bullying on FB and I don't want her subjected to that when she should be concentrating on other things.

What is the minimum age required to sign up for Facebook?
In order to be eligible to sign up for Facebook, users must be thirteen (13) years of age or older.
**If they are younger and you report them, they WILL be removed from FB.

My SD is 11 and all of her friends have them. She does not and she is not allowed to. Probably next year when she turns 13 she will be allowed.

I work in a MS and FB reaks HAVOC in kids lives 
I tell the parents to cancel their kids account and let them sign up when they are legal....
Depends on the kid but many kids post things that can get them in a lot of trouble and it scares me. We just had a print out from a yr ago that is being brought to the police bc it is a threat. Nightmare FB for kids, nightmare!
Agreed!!!
IMO, any child should be monitored online period.
