At what age was your DC completely off bottles?
Ang-Rich's post made me wonder.
Logan is going to be 14 months and still gets 3 a day.
Is there a reason to get rid of them?

Re: At what age was your DC completely off bottles?
DD is 14 months and gets 3 a day. I feel like if I give her the milk in a sippy cup she will never drink enough of it. At least if I give it to her in a bottle she will lay down and drink it. When she has the sippy cup (when I give it to her with juice) she just walks around with it and drinks alittle.

Re: At what age was your DC completely off bottles?
We're at 14 months and we just started trying...She gets her morning bottle only now but will not drink any other milk...I wonder if I should give up and go back to the bottles for a while to keep her drinking milk

After Lucas gets into pjs from the bath we head upstairs (I still say goodnight to everything in our path) and he drinks from his sippy on the way. We sit on the ottoman and he drinks...when he is done he hands it to me, cuddles with me and his teddy bear for a bit and when I see him looking over at the crib (he has to stretch to see it) in he goes.

Re: At what age was your DC completely off bottles?
the weekend after dd's 1st bday she was off the bottle..i wanted to try it but wasnt going to force it on her since she was young but she took to it pretty well.. i wanted to try to get her off the bottle earlier rather then later only bc i thought she would have an easier time with the transition.

Re: At what age was your DC completely off bottles?
Great question, I am wondering this myself.
So for those whoes DC are totally off bottles I have three questions:
1. How did you wean them off the bottle completely??
2. how much milk do they drink during the day?? Do you give them more food so they are not hungry?
3. what do they drink it out of
TIA

Re: At what age was your DC completely off bottles?
13 months. But I was pregnant with #2 & did not want to deal with bottle issues when the baby was born.
In my opinion, the earlier, the easier.

Re: At what age was your DC completely off bottles?
I am a bit embarrased to admit that DS at 21 months old still has a nighttime bottle
It's a bit emabarrasing for me because I was one who said NO bottles after a year..
He needs the comfort of being rocked to sleep...it takes him 20 minutes to shut down. We've tried to let him cry, to offer a sippy over and over...to no avail.
I WISH i had been done with it at a year, but I said to myself "whats the harm in one night bottle". We need to break it soon though. He does not need it, it's just "easier" for me right now with all that is going on. It's his one comfort you know? And the only time he'll lay with me and cuddle...

Re: At what age was your DC completely off bottles?
DS will be 2 the 27th of this month and I am NOT embarrassed to say he still takes 2 bottles a day. I have tried a few times to get rid of the bottle and he has no problem not having a bottle, but will not drink milk from a cup. Getting rid of the bottle is not the problem its getting him to drink milk from a cup. I have tried everything from strawberry milk to chocolate milk to 5 different types of cup nothing works. He will take a sip from the cup and make a face like I just made him eat liver and then thats it, he wont touch it again. At 1 yr his ped said he should be off bottles by 2. DS' 2 yr check up is the day after his b-day so I will see what doc has to say cause I am at a loss.
I will definately learn my lesson for the next time though.......He has been using a cup since he wa 6 mos old and it never dawned on me to put formula in it.

It wasnt hard for DD because she hardly ever held her own bottle, so I would have to give it to her. She liked to use the sippy cups (no drip ones) so it was really easy for us.
She probably drinks between 6-10 oz of mill a day now, I know thats less then she should but she loves cheese and dairy so Im not that worried.

Re: At what age was your DC completely off bottles?
Ryan was off them at 13-14 months. Now he gets 3 cups of milk a day, one with breakfast, lunch, and dinner. He usually drinks the whole cup, so I think he's getting about 24 oz. My doctor says he should get 16-24 oz per day.

Re: At what age was your DC completely off bottles?
Bryan LOVED his bottles. We did it cold turkey at around 14-15 months. He drinks 3 cups of milk a day.
