At what age/weight did you put your DC in the convertible car seat?

My DD is 5.5 months and probably close to 20 pounds. She was 18 pounds and 26 inches at the end of November. I feel like she's too tight in the infant car seat. It's a struggle to get the straps around her legs. DH and I were thinking of installing the convertible car seats. Do you think she's still too little for it? We have the Graco MyRide 65.

We switched DD at around 7 months and 18 pounds. She was just too heavy for me to carry (We have to go down 2 flights of stairs to get to our apartment). The straps were also getting tight since it was the winter and she was in bulkier clothing.

about 6m

My car starts at 5lbs up so weight wasn't an issue anyway.

As long as she meets the weight requirements, you can keep her in it. Lots of people complain they get too heavy to carry, but if you treat the infant car seat as if it was a convertible and don't take it out of the car, you don't have to worry about it. I just kept it in place and put DS in the car and took him out, leaving the infant seat in place until he was almost a year old.

I switched her probably around 6-7 months. I was squeezing her in the infant seat and I couldn't carry her in the seat anymore and for me it was PITA to get HER in and out of the infant seat.

But I was going to do it earlier and I found on my infant seat, Peg Perego, that I could extend the straps the last few inches. Turn your seat over and look around the buckle. On mine there was a metal "clip" that had 2 "levels." Once I moved it I had another inch or so.

There is nothing wrong with putting in the convertible. The Myride is made for little to 65 lbs.

I have a really bad back and can not carry DD (almost 6 months, around 16 pounds and 26 inches) in the infant seat anymore. Last week we installed the convertible in my DHs car and we're keeping the infant seat in my car. I just carry her in and out of it as if it were a convertible.

ETA: Most convertible seats can accomodate newborns, so your DC is not too little for it. The infant seat is really more for convenience.

Around 5 months I think. DS has been in the 90% in height and 75 for weight and he always looked so squished and uncomfortable in his seat, so we switched him to the convertible. We also have the Graco MyRide 65. He is so much happier when he gets in the car now!

We just switched my DD earlier this month (11 months). She still fit the height and weight (we had a snug ride 35) of the infant seat, so we kept her in that as long as we could. (Although we stopped taking it out of the car, since it was so heavy to lug around.) I was running out of slack with the straps so we finally moved her into the Britax.

whenever she outgrew the Graco Snugride..I think she was around 6-7 mos old.
You have to go by height/weight according to your infant seat.
