at what point did your doc tell you
to stop sleeping on your back?
My sister said she was told to stop around 20 weeks, I am almost there and my doc didn't say anything about that yet?
Just curious.
Thanks.

Re: at what point did your doc tell you
when I went to my OB last week (20 weeks) they said to stop laying on my back if I still was. Reduces blood supply

Re: at what point did your doc tell you
mine said 16 weeks but at 30 weeks i am constantly rolling onto my back in my sleep (its the only way thats comfortable for me). if i wake up i will roll back onto my side. my doctor said its really not a big deal and the "harm" is only theoretical (other than it causing lower back pain).

Re: at what point did your doc tell you
my doc never said anything about it at all.
Actually, with my past pg, I was hospitalized a lot with gall bladder issues and was always laying on my back in the hospital. For the amount of doctors and nurses I saw, nobody said a thing!

Never said anything. I asked, he said to sleep how i was comfortable, and laying on one's back is only a problem if breathing is an issue. In other words, your body will tell you if you shouldn't be on your back.

Re: at what point did your doc tell you
I asked my doctor this at my 20 week appointment 2 weeks ago and said it was fine to sleep on my back but eventually it will probably get to uncomfortable. I try to sleep on my side but always wind up on my back! I move so much now!

Re: at what point did your doc tell you
He never told me not to sleep on my back.
The past few weeks (I'm 37 now), it's been uncomfortable sleeping on my back so I don't, but before that, I would sleep on my back and sides because it felt comfortable.
So listen to your body.
