Re: Baby Monitors.. which type?
I went w/ video bc the kids will be upstairs...this way we can keep an eye on them when we are watching tv downstairs in the LR.
SOOOOO expensive though! Plus, w/ twins, I added an extra camera so I can watch both kids.

i saw that you can buy a extra camera.. with twins it seems like its difficult or more expensive to have the video.. but thats what i want..

Re: Baby Monitors.. which type?
video! If I use the monitor and I hear him screaming away, I can look at the monitor to determine whether he is stuck in the crib and needs my help, or if he is just trying to play me and doesn't want to sleep.

Re: Baby Monitors.. which type?
love love love my video monitor! made the transition from bassinet to crib so much easier. A lot of times DD cries in her sleep and i just pop on the screen and never have to get out of bed. We leave the audio on all night.

Re: Baby Monitors.. which type?
Just crashing, but video is sooo much better! We have the audio at my in-law's and since I'm used to seeing him I can't tell what he's doing.
Here's a good example... Mason woke up at 3:30AM last night just to sing to himself "da da da da da" then after a little while of rolling and trying to crawl (he's almost there) he layed back down and went to bed. I never had to go in there If I did I know he wouldn't go back to sleep so easily. I also saw him keep looking at the door waiting, but he never cried. Wined for a bit then bed.

Oh definitely not. There have been nights where I hear him cry and I can check on him with the video monitor to wait it out and see if he goes back to sleep - most of the time he does! If I went in there and then tried to leave he would be hysterical

Re: Baby Monitors.. which type?
Sounds like video is the way to go these days...great reading why people like it. I had always thought I wouldn't want one but so many moms on here recommend. Thanks.

Re: Baby Monitors.. which type?
With DS I sued audio and I'm glad I did. My friend makes herself crazy watching her kids on that thing.this time around another friend has offered me her video monitor and I may take it, but only for occassional use and only because DD's bedroom will be upstairs and ours is downstairs.

Exactly!!! They learn early that if they cry long enough you'll come rescue them. So if you see nothing wrong, they'll eventually get the hint that you're not coming.

Re: Baby Monitors.. which type?
Video and I am getting the MobiCam digital wireless b/c u can add cameras later on AND you can hook it up to ur computer and watch the baby on the internet- which I am sure I will want when I go back to work. It also has really great reviews.
I almost went w/ summer but it seems from the reviews that they always break...

Re: Baby Monitors.. which type?
We started with an audio.
when DD started to STTN at 8 weeks and her newborn grunts and squeaks started to become less and less. I started to get nervous at how quiet it was in her room, so I got a video.
I will say that I also attribute the video monitor with being one of the big reasons DD STTN still. When she lets out a cry or some sort of out of the norm noise, I can look in on her on the video without going into her room. Because if she wakes, and I go into her room, or sometimes if she crys out in her sleep and I go in her room, she immediately wakes up and thinks it's playtime. The video monitor really helped from keeping me running into her room at every little noise.

Re: Baby Monitors.. which type?
I could not live without my video monitor. We bring it everywhere. We have the camera on a shelf (not mounted) so we bring it along when we know DS will be taking a nap at someone's house or when we go on vacation.

Re: Baby Monitors.. which type?
Video... AND we live in a coop, not a house! lol. I just like the idea of checking in on baby once he/she has been put to bed without having to physically walk in there, which many babies then rely on.
We are getting a DIGITAL video monitor so that other people in our building can't pick up our signal and see our baby or hear any conversations we have near the monitor. This is very important to me since most video monitors can be picked up by other users of the same/similar monitor, police scanners, etc. etc.
