baby rus new return policy
well basically it sucks!! It like Target now they won't let u return anythinfg without a receipt which sucks when someone gives u a gift and u don't want to hurt their feelings. anyone else experience this!! i was soooooo upset today. I told them thats why people do not register at Target becaus they have such an unrealistic return policy!

Re: baby rus new return policy
I had such a horrible time there on Sunday! I had a few things that we just didn't use and I wanted to get rid of it! Now I will have to regift or figure something else out!
I told the manager that the policy was ridiculous! She politely told me, "Toys-R-Us has the same policy and we give gift receipts" and I said t"hat is why I don't shop there either and not everyone who buys a gift, gives the the gift receipt!"

Yup, it slucks!
I have a registry I keep current and add the item to it and then mark it as bought in case I have to return it. They say you can use your registry as a receipt.

Re: baby rus new return policy
Wow I thought I was the only one who Finagled the system. Good job guys, I had a huge fight with Toysrus over this exact issue. I had tried to return a double gift of a TMX elmo. The woman was not only nasty but told me that if I had a problem then I needed to call customer service because she didn't want to hear it. DH grabbed me quickly and dragged me out of the store fearing the woman would get the wrong side of my hormones.

Re: baby rus new return policy
They should focus more on their merchandise and ensuring it's in good condition on the floor (Westbury store).
I bought some baby bath soap and when I got it home it had leaked all over the bag - the seal had been broken. I haven't had time to return it but plan to. They sent the wrong high chair off my registry - but I only just realized this recently - my shower was back in March so I don't know if they'll take it back. Also, when I shop there I always have to check and double check stuff - a lot of the stuff they have on the floor you can tell by looking at it that it was tampered with. Take care of the store then worry about people returning stuff.

make sure you change the date so it's within 90 days. i was there the other day and they checked to see that DS was born within 90 days...so once i hit that mark i'll just change his july birthday to october!

How do you mark items as bought on a current registry?

How do you mark items as bought on a current registry? if you are on the page where you can edit your registry, you can enter the # of items bought in the "purchased" box for that item and save it. for example, if you put a "1" in there for your high chair, and save, it will move the highchair to the bottom of the registry with the rest of the purchased items.

Re: baby rus new return policy
I ran into this at Toys R Us...this policy is totally absurd for a childrens store IMO. I mean come on, you get duplicates and things you can't use all the time when it comes to kids, people don't ALWAYS give gift receipts.

That's why I love Buy Buy Baby...you can return anything there and get a store credit as long as its an item they carry.

I think we all should start calling corporate and complaining. Maybe if enough people do it then they will change their policy.

Re: baby rus new return policy
I was just there (returning something - it was actually one of those cabana things that I got at my baby shower. We finally used it and realized the one we got was broken - since my shower was more than 90 days ago, I had to buy a new one, put the broken one in the new box and return it that way! - so complicated!
The cashier was telling me the return policy - and I told her that I disagree with it. Well she got soo defensive and said its the same as Targets - I told her I don't shop there for the same reason - I go to Buy buy baby when I'm buying something without using a gift card... She was so argumentive - I was like - since when is the customer always wrong?!

No offense, but this is part of the reason that they change their return policy. I know people do it and I am not flaming *you*, but I think there may be other ways to go around it.
I got an extra pnp at my shower (long story, NOT BRUs fault) and my local ones wouldn't take it back b/c its one they only sell online, and I had to speak to a bunch of managers, but I got it taken care of.

Yeah - I had the same problem with the PNP -Shocking that I got 2! "that never happens! Your guests must not have told them it was off a registry" was the response at the first BRU. Oh, so it couldn't be that your online system messed up....
- I had to go to 2 BRU and finally a TRU to get it returned- AND had to talk to managers - frankly as a full time working mother with a baby that gets hungry every 2.5 hours, I don't have time to spend an hour at BRU talking to managers. I actually did have a receipt for the cabana thing, but it was over 90 days and I didn't want to deal with the hassle. They just make it soo difficult to be a customer there - its really a shame that they own the market....
The whole Dr Browns bottle thing - I had mine within 90 days and with receipts and they wouldn't take them back b/c I didn't have the original boxes for them - Yet they took everyone elses back from 2 years ago - I just got so frustrated - that I stopped caring about doing the "right" thing.
Sorry so long - this turned into quite a vent!

according to a manager at the westbury story, they're not! he said they're actually starting gift receipts next month since so many people think they need them even though they don't. he said it will make people feel better.
BRU's policy change is because that's the way TRU is and they had to conform to the same system.
