Baby Shower vent - LONG!!!!!
My mom & MIL are drviing me crazy.
They are both generously paying for it, which DH & I are grateful for.
However, between the two of them right not - I just want to 
First is WHEN to have it. My SIL - my brothers wife is having hers on June 19th. I don't want to have it before that because I don't want to step on her toes. She planned it first, she should have it first.
Than July 10th was thrown out there. The place we wanted to have it at is closed that week. They open up on the 12th & have July 17th available.
Than June 26th was thrown on the table. A few issues with this date:
1. its the weekend after my SIL's shower - which would mean back to back baby showers on Saturdays for my entire family & a good handful of mutual friends.
2. The place we want to have it only has their small room available. So we would need to find another location. Problem is original place is giving so much for THE best price.
So we come back to July 17th. My mother is now talking about going to Italy for a month & would like to leave as soon as she can in July - meaning right after July 10th However, she isn't "sure" yet if she is going & won't give me an answer on whether its more "yes" or "no".
My MIL will be in California & Seattle the entire month of August & will be returning on August 27th. I'm due Sept 5th.
I'm trying to ignore the fact that my MIL would like me to have it on July 10th so my SIL (DH's ONLY sibiling) could fly out 4th of July with the kids (they live in Seattle) & stay for the shower the following weekend. If not the chances of her coming on July 17th are not that high.
They are leaving me to iron out the "kinks". DH is NO help because he is in the middle of ripping out our bathroom & renovating it, he has no opinion on baby stuff just sheetrock & wonderboard.
So not only do I have to figure out how to accomadate EVERYONE elses shower date needs, I have a gutted bathroom with a toliet that will be gone within the next few days & won't be back for a good 2-3 weeks. FML!!!!

I say pick the 17 of July and let the pieces fall where they may. You cannot accomodate every single person. Accomodate yourself first ie the place you want, with the bigger room. This is the one time in your life you are allowed to be selfish. Stop worrying about who can and who cannot make it, or who is going on vacation, or who would like to fly out for a special weekend. HTH.

I agree, book July 17, and hopefully your mom will book her trip after that. Your ehr daughter and Im sure your shower is more important then Italy...Good Luck!

I also agree with this. Your mom can leave on the 18th, its only a week later.
Picking a date was a pain for me too, to the point where I almost had two separate showers, one with my family and one with DH's family. I really didnt' want that. May was all booked so now we are having my shower 2 weeks before my due date!

Pick the day you want. No matter what day you pick there will always be someone who can't make it. It will be a blast either way.
