Babysitter Hourly Rate
Hello!
Hoping some of you girls can help us out. What is the "going rate" for babysitters these days? For both a sister (19, but we offered to pay) and for a neighbor's daughter...

ETA It's for one child who is 18 months.

My sitter is 17 and I pay her $10 an hour. I have a 4 yr old and 18 mo old.

Wow I'm shocked! That's what I used to get back in 1996 for an 8 y/o and 5 y/o! I never imagined inflation doesn't work for babysitters... I'm kinda happy to hear this.

I pay our sitter 18 an hour...but I have 3 under 3. For you, I would say 10-12 is perfect.

When it was just DS, we paid $10 an hour. She was 17/18 years old. Once we had DS2, she raised the rate to $13 and that is what we still pay almost 3 years later!

$10 to $12 (we pay the full hour if we are even 1 min past the half or give extra if we run into the first half)
