Re: Bacon
Nope, never have. I've had turkey bacon maybe once or twice, but that's about it. Have no desire to eat it again.

My DH and I make breakfast sandwiches for lunch every weekend. So we eat bacon 4-8 times a month. We LOVE it!

I buy bacon at Costco. 4 sleeves at a time and freeze them. Hey, when you're on no/low carb diet, things like this is OK.

We only keep turkey bacon in the house, and eat it pretty regularly. I do like regular bacon but rarely eat it. Only if it's on something i order at a restaurant.

Every few months. Love it though. Since we eat it so rarely, I don't see why I shouldn't give it to Ds. Everything in moderation.

Re: Bacon
I LOOOOOVE bacon. Bacon is amazing. I am trying to move to a vegetarian lifestyle so bacon is no longer in my diet at all.. but I love it and if I ever start eating meat regularly again, that's one of the first things I'll eat.
My older son hates bacon. He won't eat it. My little guy LOVES it. If he could pick his own diet it would probably be bacon, OJ, doughnuts and more bacon. But.. he's not in control so he only gets it once in a while.

Re: Bacon
If I never had bacon again in my entire life I wouldn't miss it or ever think about it.
I eat it very once in a blue moon only if ts on a blast sandwich or cooked in something. I never eat it on its own.

Yes, we do. A lot. At least 2x a week.
What is so bad about bacon that kids can't have it? My DD eats a few slices when we cook it, it's one of her favorite foods The nitrates are a concern ( bacon also contains antibiotics and pesticides, but this is in all inorganic meat so I assume people here are specifically talking about the nitrates. ) They might also be worried about how high the saturated fat content is.
Ah. Okay then
ETA: I'll admit that I don't get all the hoopla about nitrates - I mean unless you're eating hot dogs and bacon every day I really don't think it's a big deal - but I just looked up the nutritional info on the bacon I eat and 3 slices cooked crisp has 4.5 grams of fat, 1.5 grams saturated fat, no trans fats, 170 mg of sodium, 5 grams protein, and a total of 70 calories.
That really doesn't seem like a food that's "bad" for me.

I had a little of it yesterday in some mac & cheese. Other than that, I don't know the last time I had it. I never eat it. To salty for me.

I seriously hate this thread right now because all I want is bacon. I could (and have) eaten an entire package before. It's so freaking delicious.

It isn't exactly a health food, lol ! Those numbers are pretty bad. I'll say this though: it is one of the only meats that I really miss from my pre-vegetarian days ! I wish they could recreate it without killing a pig.

Re: Bacon
my kids love bacon.
On occasion they will have the real stuff (at Ihop and at Grandma's) but at home they get the applegate nitrate free so as to ease my own guilt.

Never, but I don't eat pork.
I have turkey bacon a couple of times a week but try to limit that too since it has a lot of sodium

Bacon
We always have bacon in the house. We eat it once a week because my husband has Daddy/Daughter breakfast day on Saturday and the left overs are for the homemade pizza! She LOVES bacon...I never thought about not giving it to her. We buy the Hormel Naturals. We do eat a lot of it in Sept though because that is prime BLT season :)

Re: Bacon
We have bacon about 2-3x a month. Either in BLTs, with breakfast on the weekend or I make brussels sprouts with bacon.
My kids love bacon and eat it about 2x a month. At home I only serve the nitrate-free uncured kind. If we go out for breakfast they get the real thing.
