I do agree about keeping the refugees out. Look what happened to Germany. They took them in and they get bombed. Im sorry, but we have to protect ourselves. Do we really want another 9/11??
Do you know where most of the 911 attackers originated from? 19 of them were from Saudi Arbia. Guess what they are not even on Trumps list do you want to know why? Well that's easy Trump does business there.

Iran is already retaliating by banning US citizens. The retaliations will only get worst.

You show your ignorance time and time again. Don't you see this ban will make us LESS safe?
That is YOUR opinion (quite honest I dont care what you think)....I am talking about the refugess, NOT the ban on countries......maybe you should have READ it.

The refugees are banned. Refugees that were approved to come to the US are now banned.
ETA: We were their last hope and we just slammed the door in their faces and turned our backs on them. You really don't see how this will make us less safe and affect generations to come?

Most of the 9/11 attackers originated from Saudi Arabia - this in addition to the fact that documents over the summer implied that operatives from within the Saudi government were perhaps complicit in the attack. Strangely, Saudi Arabia was not included in the ban. Trump coincidentally has business interests there that would be jeopardized by such a ban.
Additionally, Trump's anti-Muslim ban, his various public comments disparaging Muslims, and the turning away of Syrian refugees in cold blood when it's our own disastrous foreign policy that opened up opportunity for that crisis will be used as fodder for recruitment propaganda into radical jihadi groups. That actually makes us LESS safe.

Enlighten me, Diane. What's your "opinion" on the fact that green card holders are being denied entry? These are people who have lives, homes, jobs, money in the US and they now cannot get back after visiting family in these countries.

People are being detained at JFK as a green card holder because it was a connection during their travels! . Tax paying people!

Didnt Obama ban refugees from Iraq back in 2011 for 6 months? From what I read, it is just temporary.

You're not sure?!! Green card holders are being handcuffed, their social media being reviewed and they're being asked about their views on Trump. There is chaos at the airports. Every American should be outraged! Wait until they come for YOU!

There is a family in Georgia being detained trying to return from vacation.
I have friends that moved here from Iran and travel back and forth with their young child to see their family. I can't imagine not knowing when or if I'll get to see my family again.

Re: Ban of immigrants
The whole thing is a total clusterf*ck. It's horrible for those people who are stuck. I do not agree with the ban but if they had to do it, they should have allowed some kind of grace period for those with green cards, etc. It's appalling.
At least two people who were detained were Iraqi translators who helped US troops. Going forward, no Iraqi in his/her right mind will consider helping our troops. And I couldn't blame them. They risked their lives and this is how we thank them.

Re: Ban of immigrants
I have so much information and so much in my head I can't get it all down.
I'll say this: I've spoken to expert immigration attorneys today. EVERYTHING, including the refugee ban, being done right now is illegal and/or unconstitutional. It's ALL going to get challenged.
The fact that the ban excludes Muslim countries where Trump does business is likely an IMPEACHABLE offense.
And finally, while we're all (rightfully) up in arms about this, Trump signed a new terrifying order removing the Director of National Intelligence & Joint Chiefs of Staff from the National Security Council. This is UNHEARD of. He appointed Bannon, also unheard of. He's removing dissenters from any position of influence.

Re: Ban of immigrants
But donnie thinks its working out Nicely
The White House overruled that guidance overnight, according to officials familiar with the rollout. That order came from the President's inner circle, led by Stephen Miller and Steve Bannon. Their decision held that, on a case by case basis, DHS could allow green card holders to enter the US.
They Avoided the interagency process

This is from an immigration forum:
" The following has now been CONFIRMED and OFFICIALLY signed by President Trump. Here are highlights -
Immigrant and non-immigrants from Syria, Iraq, Yemen, Sudan, Iran, Libya, and Somalia will be banned from entering the United States for 90 days starting today. The Secretary of Homeland Security will review "security procedures" in ALL countries to see if they provide enough information to adjudicate a visa application. Countries which DO not provide enough information will have 60 days to begin providing such information. If at that time they do NOT provide enough information, these countries will be added to the ban list (i.e., immigrants and non-immigrants from this country will not be allowed into the United States). The Secretary of State along with the FBI director and Secretary of Homeland Security have to implement a NEW screening program for ALL visa applications. This NEW screening program must include - an in-person interview, a database to make sure that duplicated documents aren't provided, NEW forms to weed out frauds, as well as make sure that the applicant will be a contributing member of American society, and make sure that the applicant isn't a terrorist.
What does this all mean for IR1/CR1 and K1 applicants?
If you are a citizen of Syria, Iraq, Yemen, Sudan, Iran, Libya, and Somalia:
Regardless of whatever visa you might have (IR1, CR1, K1, B2), you will not be allowed to enter the United States for the next 90 days. What does this mean for existing visa applications? Hard to say, but it seems very likely that they will be held up or delayed.
If you are from another country:
Within 30 days a new list of "problem" countries may be released. These countries will be ones which were found not to provide "sufficient" information (whatever the hell that means) to adjudicate a visa petition. Such countries will have 60 days to "fix" these problems and if they don't they will also join the banned list.
On top of all this a new screening program has been ordered to start. It's hard to say what exactly it will mean for existing applications or even when/if it may be implemented (a lot of what's being asked for seems to already exist). But this NEW screening program will apply to people of ALL countries (whatever it is and whenever it may start). "
How does he sign these orders so quickly? I thought that people said don't worry the president doesn't have that much power. And my question is why and what is he basing this all on?
Or should I just not try to make sense of it?
Presidents signing EOs quickly isn't anything new. Historically EOs were used for basic administration transition tasks (commission being set up etc) But trump is NOT the first president to expand the EOs to wider areas- How come people forget that when Obama took office within 2 days he signed multiple orders. One of them being: Executive Order 13492: Review and Disposition of Individuals Detained at the Guantanamo Bay Naval Base and Close of Detention Facilities

Yes. Why is it EVERYONE forgets! Or that in 2011 Obama QUIETLY suspended the refugee program for 6 months BC of terrorism fears. Interesting right? Oh the hypocrisy! and I CAPPED the word "quietly" bc our former president was famous for doing things on the sly! Didn't he sign a lot of EOs at night.....wasn't OBAMA care passed on Christmas EVE? Always thought his choice of time for major change was interesting!

People forget......how about when Bill Clinton made a speech to tighten borders and illegals coming in. He gets a standing ovation, but if Trump says it, he gets called racist.
Are you people this frickin stupid?? THEY ARE NOT LETTING PEOPLE WHO HAVE LIVED IN THIS COUNTRY FOR YEARS WHO HAVE VISAS AND GREEN CARDS. THIS IS NOT JUST ABOUT REFUGEES OR UNDOCUMENTED IMMIGRANTS. JESUS FLUCKING CHRIST.
Why don't you people just go back to your bubbles.
