Barbara Walters just suggested on the View...
That there be a separate section on airplanes for "Families with kids" and those "Without Kids".
It's like this woman just loves to p*ss off moms. Clearly she has never been on LIF.
Whoppi Goldberg said maybe there should be family friendly airlines for those with kids to travel on.

A separate section on airplanes?
So we now need to re-build all of our airplanes?
I vote the CFers get first class in the meantime.

This is so transparent, clearly she just doesn't want to run into Rosie O'Donnell and her brood on a plane.

As long as they also have a section for loud adult drunks then I'm all for it.

Re: Barbara Walters just suggested on the View...
She compared it to a different section for smoking when smoking was allowed on planes.
I think she kept going with it to be funny, more to get a reaction out of Elisabeth and Sherri.
Later on Whoopi said she was going to send Kate +8 and Octomom on Barbara's plane. Everyone was laughing.

I don't see why this is such a bad idea. Especially if certain planes could be outfitted to accommodate families with kids. Extra bassinet room and a small place for kids to get up and move around without disturbing others.

Re: Barbara Walters just suggested on the View...
I think this is a WONDERFUL idea! I really want to go to Italy when the baby is still really young and I have such anxiety just thinking about if the baby cries and disturbs other passengers. I would feel a lot better surrounded by families who knew that I was trying my best not to ruin their experience. And maybe the moms can take turns watching the babies so we can run to those tiny bathrooms! I would even pay extra for this!

Re: Barbara Walters just suggested on the View...
i agree with the airplanes as far as restaurants i think its a bit extreme. The only places I get annoyed when children are running around or screaming is if it is something a bit upscale, if it is MCD's its to be expected.

Re: Barbara Walters just suggested on the View...
As a mom, I actually wouldnt mind that at all. I flew with DS yesterday and while he was very well behaved, he's still a toddler and when he was watching his DVD (that he's seen a million times) he'd excitedly yell out the characters as if he'd never seen it before. Nobody complained but I always get a little embarassed that we're bothering someone and would much rather have been surrounded by people in the same situation.
As for restaurants, a lot of places (even pretty upscale ones) in the city have unofficial kid sections and we favor those places for the same reasons above.

Actually I do thnk that first class should be no children allowed.
I'm taking the bait
I disagree-people should make reasonable efforts to control their kids no matter where they sit and as long as they do, I don't think first class should be off limits to families with kids.
Paying for first class buys you more room, better food options and better boarding. But, it doesn't buy isolation from the world -if people want that then they should fly privately.
ETS: I'm not opposed to a kid section, but what would happen when seats run out in that section? Can families with kids not get seats while other seats go unused?

Re: Barbara Walters just suggested on the View...
I wouldn't mind it and I have a baby. DS is only 6 months, I don't know how he'll be on a plane. I'd rather sit in the family area where people would be more understanding if he cried. That doesn't mean when he can walk he's allowed to run around though. Although he's super quiet I find that most restaurants sit us in areas with other kids. I laughed the first time I realized that was happening.

Actually First Class does buy you isolation. It isolates you from the Coach section...
Also no one is saying reasonable efforts shouldn't be made to control children. However using all reasonable efforts & even unreasonable efforts still does not guarantee a well-behaved or quiet child.
