Basement redo question
Hi everyone! DH, my dad and I are about to start redoing the basement. We own a cape, and the basement is pretty much the size of the house. When you walk down the stairs, you can either go right into a smaller room, or left and be in the main room of the basement. Here's my question...since we won't be putting a door on the smaller room and I want to do two different colors, how would you separate the two rooms? Also, what colors would you do? Sorry that I can't provide pictures, but they're too big. Thanks in advance for your suggestions!

Re: Basement redo question
we are currently redoing out basement (studding out and ect..) we also have a cape. when you walk down the stairs you can go right or left as well and my laundry room is to the right. so i def know what the lay out you are talking about.
1. maybe just do that one wall that goes into both rooms the same colr (use it as an accent wall in one of the rooms (unless you plan on choosing colors that wouldnt go with each other.
2. you can use some molding or a column type piece (like those square ones not round, to use a a divider for the rooms. I know someone on here had a posted a picture of something like this, but i cant find it.

Re: Basement redo question
in my old cape we had the same thing, walk down stairs - a room to the left and two rooms to the right (one being the laundry room). we used the one room as a media/playroom and the other as my office. we painted the entire basement the same color (light cream) no rooms had doors. we were very happy with the one color

Thanks for your suggestions...it's really hard to try and think of how to divide the rooms, but I do like your suggestions! Thanks!

Re: Basement redo question
is the stairwell totally open? you could wall up one side which would give the impression that it is closed off.
