Bassinet for free or buy FP Rock and Play Sleeper?

I was going to buy the FP Rock and Play Sleeper for to sleep in before we move her to her crib since I've heard great things about it. My SIL had saved all her baby stuff and offered us her bassinet if we want it.

Would you take the bassinet and use that since it's free or would you buy the FP Rock and Play Sleeper?

I'd take the bassinet - use the money for something else.

I didn't even know about the rock and play but got it for my shower and I LOVE it. It is so portable and she is very comfy in there. Knowing what I now know, I'd go for that. The bassinet will have much more limited use.

I would definitely get the rock and play! It is amazing and inexpensive!! I had an expensive co-sleeper and ended up only using the rocker. I also got one for my parents house because DS slept so great in it. It folds up easily too. Next baby it is the only thing I will use from the get go.

Bassinet! For one it's free and you have plenty to buy and for 2 I have heard a lot of Mom's struggling with getting the baby to sleep in the crib after being in the r&p due to the incline. Bassinets are portable and honestly I would get a bouncy chair to use as a chair instead of using the R&P for both. My DD was in hers until 13months!

if your intention is to use it for sleeping (as opposed to napping) i'd def. go with the bassinet.

The bassinet is free, so I would start with that. If The baby does not like it or it does not work, you can always buy something else later, but why buy right away.

DD is 7 1/2 months and STILL sleeping in the rock n play sleeper (she fits just fine)... when we put her in her crib, she does not like it. She is so used to being all cuddled in, and at the angle. We do not swaddle her (never have since day 4). So I guess it's kinda like that.

I keep asking DH if we did it over would we still use the RNP... I think we still would. I love it for her. I loved not worrying about her spitting up and choking. I love that she'll sleep anywhere we bring it. I love having her next to our bed so close.

Now, ask me in a few months once she's FINALLY out of there... I'll let you know. (or if anyone searching finds this post, FM me and we can talk...)

i would take the bassinet and try it first. if baby doesnt like it, then go get the rock n play. the bassinet is a lot more expensive so if you can have that for free its worth taking. we bought a bassinet and then when DD didn't love it we went and got the rock n play which has worked a lot better for her.

Honestly I'd use both.
The FP rock and play sleeper is only $50 at Target....for how much you will use that thing - that is really cheap IMO. It's worth SO MUCH MORE to me.

But I'd take the free bassinet too - why not. You can keep one in your room and the other can be in another room. The sleeper is so portable so you can take it with you to someone's house if you go for dinner or anywhere...it's just a great place for the baby to sit and hang out in or sleep in.
But as someone said get the baby used to lying flat as well - so put them in the bassinet at times too.

I had both - my bassinet was also a free hand me down - I used it at times but the FP sleeper was def used more.
