Bathroom remodel questions
I really want to redo our beautiful pink bathoom. Haven't gotten any estimates but have some questions.
Did any of you do the gutting yourself and how hard is it? How much money do you think that saves doing the gut yourself?
I have no idea how much a bathtub costs. I figure I'll need a new vanity, toilet, and mirror, tile and tub. Roughly how much did you spend on this?
Are there people out there who do plumbing as well as all the installation and tile work? Who do we call? Contractors? Bathroom specialisits.
As you can tell we are in the beginning stage of this and don't know if we can afford. It's not a huge bathroom, but looking to do the job right yet save money at the same time.
Any advice? Thanks so much.,

Re: Bathroom remodel questions
We did our bathroom last year. After gutting our kitchen ourselves, we decided we wanted no part of gutting the bathroom. We hired a crew to do it, it cost us just under 1K, they were done in one afternoon, and they took all the nastiness that was our bathroom with them. We felt it was money well spent because it probably would have taken us weeks to accomplish what they did in one day.

Re: Bathroom remodel questions
Our contractor handled the gut and removal of debris and like the PP said, it's worth it. It was a nasty, messy job and they have the tools and muscle to do it fast. Our guys were really clean too - drop cloths on the floor to keep it clean and they swept and vacuumed before they left so with the door closed you couldn't even tell there were renovations going on. His quote was on basic materials like sub floor, sheetrock, plumbing and electrical work and painting and labor for installation and tile work and we got all the decorative stuff - plumbing fixtures, tiles, vanity, light fixtures (other than the ceiling spots and fan which were part of his quote), etc. He installed everything right down to the towel bars and hanging the mirror. Prices will vary depending on the size, whether or not you're moving plumbing, the amount of tile work to be done, etc.
